Well... at least it's an easy badge to get? Like maybe a minute or two max.... Any more and I'd say skip this travesty.

1/5 game is just boring. music is calming. i dont understand the graphics. the "fish" dont look like fish; they are just abstract lines. for a while, i thought they were trash floating in the ocean. how am i supposed to tell the fish apart since they are all line segments? i have only played 1 day and can tell that the gameplay wont change. you go into the water, click on some line segments, go out, repeat, then go home. 1/5 this game is a monotonous experience.

@VegladeX It's impossible to kill Captain Connell. The point is that Captain Connell is to you what you are to the fish. He's the hunter, and you're the prey, in an unfair fight with no way to defend yourself. I'm fairly sure the words at the end are said by Captain Connell to you.

Did..... did I win? I was pretty red near the end there, did I get killed or did I kill Captain Connell? "I still only know how it feels to be on one end of the hunt." That suggests..... I lived?

Tip: get the harpoon, then dive as deep as you can, and start wrecking large fishes till you're fully loaded, then back-up. You'll complete the game in no time.

So is it possible to even see the captain at the end, let alone beat? Or is it just a huge flashlight coming for you that there is no way to avoid?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I think I lost to the captain in the end. Huge flashlight coming for me, not enough breathable air to make it up to the top.

Day 26 got the final fishing license upgrade. Only one nightmare so far after the first day. I thought for sure there would be more.

I love this game, i played it the first time a long time ago but it's always fun when i come back to it. I remember having a dream about it when i was younger and it was pretty freaky.

That moment when you're post-game and your results screen is crowded with leviathans to the point your entire screen is white lines

not really a fishing game. or maybe just the most abstract fishing game ever. the gameplay wasn't too much, but it wasn't bad, and the atmosphere was really great. the deep sea is naturally scary because of how little we know about it, and i got the feeling i'd be horrified if i saw what the biggest fishies looked like outside of the vector graphics...and leaving crucial details up to the imagination is almost always scarier. And of course, there was the ending...

I will tell you forbidden knowledge.
Okay, the forbidden is joking.
Typing in "givemefreedom" at the title screen does...
Something special.
I'll leave it at that.
Also, there are only 8 messages to get. Keep this, the jaw trick, and the fact that larger fish are found deeper in mind.

@BeyondMaternity I can't believe the stupid directions didn't bother to mention the *invisible ball* you're supposed to control. I was literally mashing the arrow keys and that thing never even accidentally made it off the boat. I ended up submitting a bug report because people in chat said there's supposed to be a *diver* on the boat. Thank you for the information that should have been part of the game in the first place.

I found myself a bit bored by this one. The controls work very well and the game definitely has the atmosphere down. However, I found that the gameplay was very repetitive and the story doesn't merit enough interest to make up for that. Upgrades, storage capacity, and oxygen all feel like barriers put in place to stretch out the gameplay. The upgrades help, but aren't very satisfying. Also, the game suffers from "keeping fish intact". It's not fun to shoot and wait for bleed out, let me just hunt and remove "in-pieces" penalty. As well, the graphics make it difficult to tell what any part of the fish is and I have no indication if a fish is bleeding out or just injured. Finally, the story is done well, but it's nothing new "the hunter becomes the hunted". If I didn't have to sit through a loading screen before and after each day, and instead the game was done in a more "flowing" manner I would probably rate it higher.

This game has an amazing gameplay cycle, it's so addictive and satisfying. Great job on designing such a tight and fun experience.

I stand corrected and I apologize. Thanks for explaining it BeyondMaternity. I even did jump before but it just looked like the boat is bouncing. Maybe a better explanation in the game play section is in order.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@Eppie_spacely I also thought it was non-obvious at first, but you're controlling a ball on the boat, not the boat itself. You need to jump (up) out of the boat. Once the ball is in the water, it's more obvious

Works great for me eppie. same as it did in the past too. i'd check what plug ins you have going on or if you have a background window open with something that keeps 'grabbing' the screen like youtube will.
