not really a fishing game. or maybe just the most abstract fishing game ever. the gameplay wasn't too much, but it wasn't bad, and the atmosphere was really great. the deep sea is naturally scary because of how little we know about it, and i got the feeling i'd be horrified if i saw what the biggest fishies looked like outside of the vector graphics...and leaving crucial details up to the imagination is almost always scarier. And of course, there was the ending...

@BeyondMaternity I can't believe the stupid directions didn't bother to mention the *invisible ball* you're supposed to control. I was literally mashing the arrow keys and that thing never even accidentally made it off the boat. I ended up submitting a bug report because people in chat said there's supposed to be a *diver* on the boat. Thank you for the information that should have been part of the game in the first place.

I found myself a bit bored by this one. The controls work very well and the game definitely has the atmosphere down. However, I found that the gameplay was very repetitive and the story doesn't merit enough interest to make up for that. Upgrades, storage capacity, and oxygen all feel like barriers put in place to stretch out the gameplay. The upgrades help, but aren't very satisfying. Also, the game suffers from "keeping fish intact". It's not fun to shoot and wait for bleed out, let me just hunt and remove "in-pieces" penalty. As well, the graphics make it difficult to tell what any part of the fish is and I have no indication if a fish is bleeding out or just injured. Finally, the story is done well, but it's nothing new "the hunter becomes the hunted". If I didn't have to sit through a loading screen before and after each day, and instead the game was done in a more "flowing" manner I would probably rate it higher.

This game has an amazing gameplay cycle, it's so addictive and satisfying. Great job on designing such a tight and fun experience.

I stand corrected and I apologize. Thanks for explaining it BeyondMaternity. I even did jump before but it just looked like the boat is bouncing. Maybe a better explanation in the game play section is in order.

@Eppie_spacely I also thought it was non-obvious at first, but you're controlling a ball on the boat, not the boat itself. You need to jump (up) out of the boat. Once the ball is in the water, it's more obvious

Works great for me eppie. same as it did in the past too. i'd check what plug ins you have going on or if you have a background window open with something that keeps 'grabbing' the screen like youtube will.

For those who absolutely want the daily badge and can't play: the game works on Firefox and Opera browsers. So maybe try and change your browser ?

@chwooly: no, not helpful. Apparently I've played this game before because I got my badge anyway, but IT IS NOT WORKING. Maybe you are super-special and it works for you, but I doubt it.

game is super glitchy. on day 3 it just kept resetting half way through my storage and blacking out to "another bad dream" and it would start the day all over again. lame

Ok, is this another broken game or is it another case of programmer not bothering to give directions?
The arrow keys move the screen a few feet to the right and left. The mouse has a moving target, so that works... but no amount of clicking or holding the mouse button is causing anything to shoot. The spacebar does nothing either.
Reloading didn't help.

This is one of my favorite games of all time. Almost a decade later, and I find myself coming back to this thing over and over. I'd love to see an update.

Tip: buy the compass as soon as you can. the first time you lose your boat, the game will give you a hint but you're on your own after that. Compass will point the way back to the boat.

Wait wait wait, back up. He has a whole boat cruise ship and yet he keeps all his stuff on him. Why doesnt he put the fish stored on the ship and then bring back more when he gets out of the ocean yet again? it doesnt make any sense, you'd make more money if you did that.

How to get Free Play: Restart the game if you are currently playing. On the main menu, type 'givemefreedom'. The game does not prevent you from doing this even if you didn't complete the ending.

Is it just me or is there just no load button, kind of annoying when you get really far just before you get tired for the night and come back in the morning to restart. Otherwise fun game!

Weird game. I like the notes and the calm feeling. Gameplay was ok. I didn't know if I was doing a good job or not. The boss battle was crap though. He hits automatically. Is it winnable? Why is he attacking me?
