Played through the first chapter, was liking the game. Went to work, came home, fired it up again, and all I get is the opening screen.

Is it just me does the rain make it MUCH harder to blow smoke rings? I can't tell if it's that or if it's the fact that I took a break when I hit the rain levels and lost the timing. But I'm absolutely struggling now because I can't blow a single ring.

This is a great game. Unique mechanics, great story telling, decent art style. But I do have a couple of critiques. First, I do not think this game should be a prequel to The company of Myself. The guy's magic trick, plus the ending feels like it was just added in to connect the two games together when Fixation would have done well as a standalone title. Maybe utilizing the magic trick more, or focus a little bit more on the ending, since the ending of Fixation and the beginning of The company of myself do not match for me. The other critique is that some of the in-game mechanics were not explained well, becoming clear in the swamp area where you have to turn everything on to advance, or figuring out the EHUC (since you don't explore the required mechanic anywhere in the game) Other than that it is a good game (would have been better as a standalone title) and gets a 4/5

I was expecting so much from this. It's not a bad game at all..but it falls far short of the first. In TCOM, all the psychology and the strangeness was interesting. Here though, you took it way too far. Dialogue is fine, but when every screen has 5 minutes of text it's just annoying. The gameplay is ok, but nothing special. It get's very, very repetitive but the main problem is those damn smoke rings. Why the hell did you have to make it so annoying and difficult to make them? It's such a problem because all the switches require you to be incredibly fast. Everything closes after 1 to 3 seconds. I'm on the 4th screen in the jungle and it's such a huge problem. You can't waste a single millisecond, but I'm stuck because I miss making the ring the very first time. I know you tried something new, and it is good...but it's far inferior, way too text heavy and the gameplay is average at best.

You can interact with the rings you blow by moving close to them. Doing so allows you to push them around, which is how you complete the EHUP challenge.

Not being able to make the smoke rings consistently is ruining the game for me. I wish there was an "easy mode" that showed the timing bar all the time.

This really needs to be rated higher... This game is art. It's beautiful, the story is very well written, and it's so subtle and mysterious. I love it. Never have a been moved from a flash game; heck, a game in general! I find this to be better then books, even. It's really just... deep, and sad. Thank you for creating such an amazing game.

Is it just me, or are the lasers like perspectives?
I noticed it in the middle of chapter 3 when the psychologist helps you to shift them.
Perspectives are unavoidable, and everyone's got one. There isn't really a "right" or "wrong" direction, but they're more helpful when they point in a certain direction. And if they're too focused on you, they can be your downfall. While some perspectives can be dangerous, or even get in the way, they can help you to get to the bottom of the problem, too.

I really enjoyed this, but it's unfortunate that it just doesn't carry the same emotional spark that was delivered in TCOM... I think the music is more complex, the characters are more cartoony, and the cartoon-style parts really kill the effect that's going on. I still got my fix off of this, but I was hoping for something a little more hard-hitting.

@Oake:
The dialogue is easily skipped; I enjoyed it. As it is a prologue; you should notice how different it is in comparison to The Company of Myself. There is nothing 'fake' or 'hollow' about the dialogue as you imply.
True: good philosophical gaming doesn't need dialogue for a story- but dialogue does not make a game bad. If you found the dialogue confusing, I have low esteem for your ability to hold attention. Nothing entirely against you, but I believed it to be quite fruitful and patient.
As a note on the topic of justification, philosophical games do not require justification- they require thought and connection without too much of someone holding your hand for every bit.
Above all, I will reiterate that fact that it /is/ a prologue. Whether all of this is in Kathryn's mind needs justification or not is mostly irrelevant.

Jeez, just as soon as I think I won't think of smoking, the damn loading screen is a cigarette...thanks for the pat on the back after quitting for 6 months.

Had trouble getting past the intro in Firefox with NoScript. Not sure which script it requires, but the cigarette only burned halfway. Just temp allow all scripts or disable or use chrome.

I've read on other sites that the main issue previously found was with anyone not using Flash Player 11, so upgrading Flash (or swapping Chrome/Firefox), may well solve the loading issue.

@JaminGold this isn't the game this is you. I used to experience similar problems on other games and there is a fix out there (involves security settings of all things)
