TIPS: (on Emplacements)
Only get emplacements after your finished with maxing out your squad cap; as they are EXPENSIVE. and aren't as worthwhile as the troops. this doesn't mean don't get them, it just means take your time in getting them. one mortar will help a lot while the machine guns will keep the skies clear of flies and queens flies; allowing your Riflemen to fire at the bugs on the ground, most probable hugging the walls. Diagonal placement of similar emplacements will allow for maximum coverage for each type.

#2 needs to have a way to click on a specific enemy to target it, deeper graphics, A way to become a shooter(like double click on one to have his view to shoot), and more options for infantry, but over-all addictive game and i love it! 5/5!

nice game but this monsters are really smart.. the bugs came in a nice organisation... THEY COULD DOMINATE THE WORLD!!!! thats why they put that fort...

really easy way to get your fortress to the unbeatable stage, (not that its that hard anyway) hire an engineer, place on a wall where you let a single enemy survive, let the enemy atk, and the engineer repair until he's maxed out/ desired lvl, repeat three more times so you can have a maxed engineer on each wall... profit

this game isn't impossible. it's just important to understand priorities.
level is realy important.
level up of your solders will give you 60 money points each.
every solder will get HUGE bonus dmg and hp on lvlup.
repairer are first priority. buy them first. at least 4. you will need them. alternatively you can farm money with repairer. one costs 250 points. level cap is lvl7. you can buy one, level up to lvl 4-5 and get 240-300 points for levelups and then sell him for 250 and buy a new one. but thats not necessary.
its important to let gunner level up too. don't use heavies if gunner can handle it. let exp for them. so you will have more money and usefull gunner with high hp and dmg.
bugs have constant dmg but their hp goes up per wave. (thats why repairer is so strong).
you can avoid dmg on soldiers by moving them around. so don't just watch them dying! move weak ones out of fire!
if you dont waste exp on the way, you will get plenty of money. I had over 5000 in the end.

TIPS: Heavies are VITAL they are the only things capable of taking out those carrier bugs. Riflemen are also vital; but one rule applies with them; get them EARLY (more levels=more damage) and get LOTS of them. Engineers are the unsung heroes of this game the same rule of getting them EARLY applies here too as if you have 3 level 4 engineers it negates the need to have 1 more; as they repair 2% of wall every time they fire their welders; allowing 1 extra heavy or riflemen. Most common formations (thanks to t0mmppa) 10/4/4 or 12/3/3. i prefer the 12/3/3 combo myself as it allows more firepower to bear on those times when them bugs are close range; which happens A LOT no matter how much long range firepower you have. anything that fits you is fine. but have less than 3 or 2 Engineers and your just asking for a collapse of a wall or tower mid-wave.
P.S this is just on troops; for Emplacements tips see next post

TIP: Let the final few bugs in a level attack you. Move your gunners away from them and just keep the repair men at that wall. The repairers will get lots of xp this way, you can just leave the game running and do something else. When you come back, they will have leveled up insanely and you can sell them and repeat the process with new repair guys.

only thing that really bugged me was how my troops all bunched together on two or three walls at the start of the wave. i would either like for them to hold their positions from the last wave, or have a small time at the start to organize them. 3/5 for that and that its a little slow, but overall very good

if you read they say there are some sort of precouis minerals on the planet they want maybe thats why they have not left

I see people asking questions like "There is a transport ship, so why can't they evacuate?".
Read the game details, it says that they are a scouting party. They are there to kick some ass.
Complaining about the plot in this game is tantamount to complaining about bad acting in Kung-fu movies. No one gives a poo. Play the game.
If you could freely evac your squad, would you really be playing the game? Go play a Pokemon game if you're so die-hard for a plot.

I think it is a good game, but becomes very repetitive. Maybe adding more classes, different fortresses (such a shape or number of walls) after 3-5 waves, or something like that would make it even better.

Finally! A game from my fav movie of all time - STAR SHIP TROOPERS. "YOU WANNA LIVE FOREVER?!!" "HU HA!" Oh man I wanna cry...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Becomes boring and repetitive very quickly. Troops move very slowly, making it difficult to defend the base with how few soldiers you have due to the high costs. Also, if you can hire more troops, couldn't you just use their transport to escape? Plot hole ftl >.>

heres a tip to get powerful repairmen, have 2 or more and have enemy attacking the wall, as long as they repair faster then it gets damaged, you'll be fine, leave it while you play something else, this style has gotten my 4 to lvl 7 so far, make sure you do this on last wave of the day. +rate+this+up+

Good game, like JoFlo; it does become a bit repetitive. More classes and upgrades for the fort or placement of traps would be much welcomed; Variety is the spice of life. Also have a different valor point earning system; cause it really unfair to give 2 valor points per enemy as those freaking giants are much harder to kill than the common fodder they normal give. And like everyone said have something to balance the issue of lack of firepower at close range; cause nothing but the lowly rifleman can shoot when they are right up against the wall; and frankly unless you got a whole horde of level for guys; 2 or more giant bugs will rip down those steel towers and walls. maybe a specialized close range unit like flamers or something.
P.S. I have a second post on Tips... it was too long and they didn't allow me to post it all in one go...

To save up cash on repairs later and score more points earlier, get two or three engineers, then leave one bug alive in a couple walls, removing your soldiers. This prevents the "day" from ending, and your engineers can keep repairing the walls/towers the bugs are eating. They will level up a lot, and this will give you more points and make them repair more in later levels. Will take some time though, but worth it

I missed rating this most excellent game the first time around. It's not terribly complicated, but it's damn nerve-wracking :D Great game done perfectly! Kudos to 7thelf, and a well-deserved 5/5.
