Yes, it is more of a minigame, but I am glad you enjoyed it. It's my first game I have made with Stencyl (actually, first flash game period).

Under rating threshold (show) Functionality issue - the A key seems completely unresponsive and is useless unless W is pressed and held first. This creates a diagonal movement, but the square still cannot simply move left with the A key. The arrow keys function fine. Overall a good game. Some polish and fixing of the aforementioned issue or key choice done by the user would be a good addition.

+ - !

(30)

Developer response from Abigayl

Fixed, thank you for the heads up. When I played, I used arrows, so I totally forgot to debug the letter keys. My apologies for the inconvenience.

Under rating threshold (show) i think that you should make a bigger game or have someone help you with a bigger game and use this as a minigame inside of that for a way to make money for the length that you survived

+ - !

(12)

Developer response from Abigayl

Good idea. I may use it inside of another game someday. For now, as I learn how to use Stencyl, will be making more of these minigames, so that is a definite possibility.

Developer response from Abigayl

Took me about a year to find a way to get a system to automatically notify me of new comments. Before then, I had to manually go through all of my programs (this is one of over a dozen) to see if there were new comments. My philosophy is that if you care enough to leave a comment, then I should care enough to respond :).

Under rating threshold (show) You could make a mode where you control two squares at once, one with WASD and the other with arrows. And I like the idea of it being a mini-game within the game. By the way, I just started with Stencyl too. I've only made one game and it kinda sucks but I'm working on two more and I'm getting the hang of it!

+ - !

(2)

Developer response from Abigayl

Brooks, there is a two-player mode in my second game, The Lonely Square. I am planning to have all parts of my third game have the option of 2-player. Also, you may want to check out my tutorials on Stencyl if you are just getting started. I have two completed so far. Under rating threshold (show) Well - There is not much to learn in Stencyl. I would say if someone really want to make games with Flash. Learn AS3.

+ - !

(2)

Developer response from Abigayl

Aye, AS3 is the better way. What people don't realize is that you can use and learn AS3 in Stencyl. My games require additional codes not found native in Stencyl, so I have had to broaden into AS3 for parts. Still keeps the primary coding much faster though. It's a tool to be used, not to be depended upon (as I have seen many do).

Under rating threshold (show) I think that there should be an option to toggle speeds along with the "Hold" option. My pinky gets a bit tired around 4000 points. Addicting game though... Nice job.

+ - !

(2)

Developer response from Abigayl

I have realized that for the next game. In this new one, the standard speed will be the current fastest speed since I realized most of us would play it like that. Sorry about your pinky :( UPDATE: Now the previous fastest speed is the normal speed. Hope your pinky has healed :).

Jul. 31, 2011

Under rating threshold (show) Cool game, but as a suggestion i think it would be much cooler if you would make some levels with different mazes whilst you still had to avoid the balls. And (maybe) you could start a story, because the title says last square standing, but there arent any other squares than the one you control, so maybe you could make a story that included other squares than the actual one (the one you control) :)

+ - !

(2)

Developer response from Abigayl

I have thought of expanding it to include mazes, still unsure how it would work out though. Also, I still don't get the idea of having other squares, since it is THE last square standing (implying all the others are dead or otherwise missing)...

Under rating threshold (show) For what the game is, it is fun. I would recommend instead of updating this version, make more fun minigames that are different and create a compilation of fun mini games. That's something I would play.

Under rating threshold (show) I HAVE TO GET FIRST PLACE ALL TIME LEVEL 3 LEADERBOARD AND I WILL NOT STOP PLAYING IT UNTIL THEN! oh and here is a trick press p repeatedly for pauses so it is easier to see where everything is going and creator if you want to fix make the screen go black after pause then unpause normal. Anyways 4/5 could be better if there were more modes but i might not be most people.

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from Abigayl

Mode 3 was my favorite too ;). I won't take out the pausing trick as it's not overly useful IMO but can give an edge to those dedicated enough to use it. It's just like being able to snake in Mario Kart; it's something that takes dedication to learn how to do well and thus should be allowed to separate those who have been playing for ages to those who haven't. As for more modes... why not try The Lonely Square? That's the sequel to this game, and it has a storyline, achievements, a shop, and even the ability to make your own levels :D.

+ - !

(1)

Hello, what other site did you find it on? It should only be on Kongregate; any other website stole it (used without my permission). As for the program, it's Stencyl (www.stencyl.com), a great free tool, one that I even have two sets of tutorials for how to use here on Kongregate; the first set basically covers the creation process that went into this game ;).

Check out my profile. I have quite a few other games, including The Lonely Square, which was made as a much expanded sequel to this game. There are also an additional three games not on this profile but rather my new profile, 0_Tuo_0. Besides The Lonely Square and this game, none of my games have done amazingly. I'm great with simple games, but the more in-depth they become, the worse they seem to become. Go figure.
