Controls are a bit unresponsive, other than that, I absolutely love this game.

The Energy Hubs are the Red spheres just get close and the subs mainframe will start hacking it.
The Tomohawks are still a WIP at the moment.
Energy Hubs now look a bit like power plants and have transparent yellow shields!

OK, played a bit more, just to get a feel for the issues. 1. Give the shots gravity effects, it'll make the gameplay more interesting. 2. Definitely add sounds. 3. The music has got to go; it's like some giant Boss theme, and it detracts from the atmosphere. 4. Perhaps instead of going for fancy art, which I know is your big stumbling-block, go for a vector-art approach, using a vertex shader and different color cues? 5. Enemies need to fire using a cone, not just aim along a vector to current position- right now they're hopeless at hitting the player, if you just use jets and motion. 6. Having to get a Marine killed to get reloads sucks, and detracts from the overall theme. The fact that you get more disposable heroes by hacking the Hubs isn't really a feature, imo.
Update: 2 Sfx added, 3 lower volume, 5 improved accuracy, 6 more ammo + Explosions!

Took a look. 1. UI is improved tremendously. 2. Gameplay is improved somewhat. 3. Music is very annoyingly loud; pick something a little more subtle. 4. Enemies fire at too short of a distance, and can be destroyed easily. 5. Need to be able to move the Submarine. 6. Need to reload the Marine if we return to the Sub. 7. Mobile enemies should not arbitrarily face the player. 8. Art remains very lackluster.
OK just spent a day squeezing more performance out of the game so should have some room to add some stuff now! 3 Lower volume, 4 Tougher Enemies, 5 You can move the sub but it's slow, 6 more ammo, 7 enemies strafe, 8 improved island textures.

Other than that, it looks like a promising game!
