I just can't rate this well when the player can be punished by picking up power ups. The number of times I've lost in Survival due to losing my rockets from picking up a flamethrower is painful, and I'm sure others have had the same thing happen repeatedly.

Its pretty shit that you have wade through all those people, kill a boss then have to go right back to the start because your pilot is a lazy dickhead who can't be bothered to pick you up from an area you just cleared of ALL troops.

I don't know which is worse, that I pressed D and it decided I wanted to move right forever, or that I paused the game to try and stop it from walking me into walls and it won't let me unpause now.

The badges ARE possible, but I agree it's a long ragefest. I had to abuse the pause for survival. Hope it helps for badges. Total Damage can't exceed 5 hits, or 25 damage. TOTAL level damage, not ending health, so Health Packs won't help. Kills must be 100% (I think), by far the easiest, except Stage 1. Use Homing Missiles there; bullets kill mechs too slowly and its honing hits more footsoldiers faster than Rockets. Time for Stages 1, 4 and 5 must be under 2 minutes, Stage 2 under 3 min. 30 sec. and Stage 3 under 2 min. 10 sec. Homing Missiles go through walls if you're against it and fire "inside" it. They'll go out the other side and hit anything onscreen enough to be honed in on. You can go inside walls and be untargetable until you come out of it; all weapons still work. I've seen this at: Stage 4 semi-boss fight, get behind the wall to the right when screen auto-moves down - Stage 5 boss, go behind the wall in the nook at the lower-left and you can traverse within the whole wall.

Spent more time on this than I ought to have ... the getting stuck in movement or from some weird off-screen glitch was too much. Left me in the lurch more than once. Giving up on this BOTD.

I finished the first level in 2:21 minutes and I only got the silver star, wtf, I have the whole map in my brain, I didn't stop once, killed the bosses stages as fast as possible. How am I suppose to be faster than this?

@angryyoungpoor I actually used my footprints to go back to the air ship, I was amazed they're still there and didn't go away.

Wow, something really weird just happened. While trying to get the 100% kill percentage on Mission 1, I ran out of time. But I somehow managed to get onto the airplane whilst my commando got destroyed. First the 'game over'-window popped up, but the 'victory'-window followed shortly afterwards. And I got the gold star. Freaking awesome.

Kind of frustrating that the time medal for the last mission (5) depends on the powerup harvest from the first squad of footsoldiers you encounter. If you don't get rockets at the very least, you might as well restart. That's another thing: player needs some way of going back to the menu during a mission and not just killing themselves every time.

you walk into a wide area where suddenly turrets come out of the ground all around you. do you:
A. retreat a bit and fire at them from behind cover, or B. run into the middle of them and let them all shoot you at the same time. why does this guy always pick option B?

It's no substitute for a map, but the footprints can help IF you use them properly. To mark my path as I went along, I ran over the same bit of ground until it became noticeably darker (and straighter) than the prints I made while dodging. It's usually easy to kill enemies first, then start where you left off. Of course this wont earn you any time medals, but it should help for the first few badges.

First level's time limit is just a hint on the actual nature of your commander. Of course he's giving you a hard time, making you run back, cause he wants you dead. Main issue I have with this game is the fact that the impossible badge requires you surviving a bullet hell with no defense, no recovery, weapons that are just not suited for a large mass of enemies on all sides, and a hit box that's bigger than your Mech. That's not how Bullet Hell matches work.

First level needs to be much easier so people can get acquainted to the game. There's no real point where you can get a feel for it. It just kind of dumps you into it, and it's difficult for players that aren't good at this kind of game. There should have been difficulty settings to make the game more fun for a wider base of players. It's also pretty annoying that there's no way back to the menu once you start a level. If you get lost and know you won't have enough time to escape you have to stand there waiting to die or refresh.

When going for a gold star on time, you want to pick up a R and an M as soon as possible. those will let you kill bosses and sub-bosses in a matter of seconds. also, it's better to get hurt then find health than to avoid damage and be slow. Start killing the boss as soon as he appears, and don't worry about the supporting turrets. In sub-boss areas the turrets must be killed to proceed, so find the most efficient way to kill them all. When going for kills, make sure to explore every area. When going for damage, Homing missile works the best, as it kills enemies as soon as they enter the screen. Try to go slowly and kill enemies 1 at a time as they appear. In sub boss and boss areas, kill the supporting turrets then the boss, while avoiding taking damage.

"EASY" BADGE?! I think not! They should put a map in or something, and maybe stop it from deciding that when you press a key, it forever moves in that direction until you figure out you have to press a bunch of different keys and the same key you initially pressed.

The frustrating thing is that even if you DO beat the wave with four tanks, the next wave starts out difficult because you can't see half your screen, because the tanks are still exploding!! This in addition to the OP difficulty of that wave, and the bad pickups ruining your run...

You can auto-fire by holding the mouse button to shoot, then bringing it out of the screen, then you just let go off the mouse.

guys... don't think that when you have 15 gold medals, the hard/impossible badge is a piece of cake... because getting 15 gold medals is a lot easier than surviving 15 or 20 waves. the 15 gold medals only gives you +50 armor... which barely helps.

No map. Controls freeze sporadically. Can't explore and retreat in all locations. No documentation on effects of weapon types. In second mission, I get a surprise that "energy level" is a resource of some sort.
So much for the overall user experience.

When the cursor is outside the window, the mechanical commando keeps following the last direction commando (up/left/down/right) for some time. Pushing the direction arrow several times solves it. Perhaps because I'm playing it on Windows.

survive 15 waves? i can't even manage 15 golds. fat chance. i couldn't even get them seven years ago. my reflexes aren't exactly getting much better any more....

Urgh dude stop telling me I need to find a med kit. I see that I am looking like swiss cheese and am hemorrhaging. What would be helpful is dropping a med kit on me. Just put a little parachute on one and throw it out the f'kng window and I will grab it. If you can't do that can you shut the F up and stop distracting me while I try to not die.
