Under rating threshold (show) really interesting game. I forgot that a game like this existed since it's been so long since i last played one. But I must say, it's great to get back into them again. I love the concept, the visuals, and even the music. You've done yourself an excellent job there.

Under rating threshold (show) My fourth favorite game on Kongregate would have to be “Legend of Kalevala”. It has a “good” and a “bad” ending. There is an in game item called “Ancestor Records” that contains 18 different achievements that is fun trying to get, as well as the three from Kong. You can finish this game in under an hour, but much more fun to me if you really search things out. (hint: go for the “good” ending)

Under rating threshold (show) Brilliant. I wish there were more designers who actually care about video games as an art form like you do. The story was interesting, and I liked the atmosphere of slowly accumulating memories. I also liked how you explained how most of the powers worked, though I'm disappointed there's no explanation for double jumping. Ah well. The music was quite nice, though surprisingly fast-paced and upbeat in places. Suggestion: Record text from memories in case you want to see them? Perhaps in an additional sub-menu on the main menu. It would be also nice to have an easier way to backtrack at the point right before the final boss; it probably took me at least half and hour trying to get through the lava gauntlet backwards.

Under rating threshold (show) YAY! 1.6.5 is now up. You asked, I listened! The final boss fight is easier, revive posts now heal you (though there are now less of them!), and there's a brand new visual map! I've also fixed lots of bugs.

Under rating threshold (show) Beating the boss cheat sheet: The boss will fire off a round of lasers, then 3 arrows that follow you, then a bomb. You must get under the bomb and jump up and hit it, that will knock it back into the boss, which will knock the boss down to the ground, allowing you to fire a quill at it to harm it. Do this 4 more times, and the boss will be defeated. Plus if you like this.

Under rating threshold (show) Secret Fun Fact (Easter Egg) locations (that I know of) continued: 5. Purpose (right after the wrecked ship location) - go right and jump over the shaft. You should see fragment of mountain with a purple flower. Jump over it to get this secret. 6. Purpose (again) - at the end of the level, there is a purple teleporter. Jump over it and fall inside the invisible hole in the ground. After falling all the way down, you'll be congratulated by the game creator! Enjoy!

Under rating threshold (show) Great game, but there were a few annoyances. The game automatically pauses when focus is lost, which is fine, but doesn't unpause when focus is returned, which is particularly silly while in a mouse-driven menu. Unexpected easter eggs can be accidentally dismissed with no way to see them again. The trophy descriptions in the Ancestor Records are incomplete, with no way to review the text you see when you initially receive one (and which usually explains why you've received it). Finally, I found the game intermittently hiccupped, pausing for a second or two. The more entities (like projectiles) that were being created and destroyed, the more frequently it hiccupped. The strange thing is that this seems to have no correlation with either memory or CPU use; the game just takes a break.

Under rating threshold (show) This was a very well done and well put together game. It's also one of the first explorative/Metroid type games I finished by myself without help, which sadly is rare with my mind. The story was really well done and fun to follow as well as interesting to listen to. Don't know if the game has yet to continue but I would definitely check it out if it has.

Under rating threshold (show) Secret Fun Fact (Easter Egg) locations (that I know of): 1. Modus operandi (place where you got the double jump) - after you unlock the gate by the entrance, jump down and jump on the white upside-down diamond structure. I triggered this one just by jumping on it, but there is also a hidden spot inside this structure. 2. Kuriirit (first mountain area) - run all the way up the mountain, jumping over two entrances. You should disappear inside the summit. 3. Skim the sky (second mountain area, behind three crystals gate) - jump past the yellow energy field and jump on the little floating mountain fragment, from right side. Like before, you should disappear inside it. 4. Human dreams (where the ship crashed) - after defeating the floating ball boss, go up the green energy field on the right side of this room. Go through the wall on the right, where there are no spikes. Going all the way to the right lets you meet a bizarre character... Enjoy!

Under rating threshold (show) YES! Now these are the type of games I look for on Kongregate!! I'm loving this game so far. So many amazing games... I wish I had time to complete them all.. The graphics are amazing, something I wish to do in the future (retro style). The gameplay is reminiscent of a great NES game, I simply feel that nostalgia while playing it. I'm loving the story and the way its presented to the player. I'm loving the feeling of isolation, but curiosity while playing. My rating gradually increased as I continually played. 5 out of 5. I hope to collaborate and/or work with you in the future in some way.

Under rating threshold (show) This game manages to actually get that retro feel unlike 98% of all these faux-retro games in that it isn't just plain blocky graphics and the music isn't chiptunes trying to pass as "old" music. It reminds me of SNES or Genesis. Good job.

Under rating threshold (show) This game has an intense storyline, and that what I enjoyed most. In the good ending, you give the Ancestors a safe planet, but in doing so, you trap youself on Kalevala. In the bad ending, you help the Courier get its revenge, but in doing so, give it complete control, and you have no say over what you can do. It's a electrifying experience, and I didn't regret a thing about it. What should you do? It gives you the freedom of choice. It can be puzzling, yet be fun all the while. Its perfect. All I want now is the extra area that it says, "Coming soon!" I feel like I can't wait. ChainedLupine...I have no more words. You have brought me the best present ever. But take your time in adding in th extra area.

Under rating threshold (show) I'm also a bit surprised beta testers felt so daunted by less linear gameplay. I usually like non-linear exploration; to be honest, it's the main thing that defines a 'Metroidvania' for me. A map is definitely essential, though, even in a small-scale game, since it's very easy to get lost/confused in exploration games. Other suggestion: It would also be nice to save the humourous quips in the trophy text once you acquire them. Perhaps update the trophy page with them? Oh, and in case people don't know, LoK has a TV Tropes page (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/LegendOfKalevala)! Have fun with it.
