Great game. One of the best merchant type games on the internet. The trouble is it falls victim to the same flawed formula most web browser games attempt. If you were to make the game less token dependent and simply use ads or something instead, you'd make more money and the players would enjoy your game more. We can tolerate an ad in the corner and a 30 second video while the game loads. We can't tolerate paying to play this when we could simply download WoW and open a shop in there if we wanted to pay to be a merchant. The reason Youtube is so successful and still free to use is because it uses advertisements instead of making people pay to watch videos like megavideo or something. + So the de

The sad thing, if they hadn't done the whole "tokens" thing, this game would be rated high enough to earn money for the weekly or maybe even monthly best game.

I want to talk about business.
You know how to make money out of a GREAT game like this one? NOT by harrassing the players every five actions with the need to purchase more coins or kreds.
That is the WORST thing you can do, it just drives people mad and make them want to stop playing right away (don't believe me? Read the other comments.). Want to know what works? PUTTING ADVERTISEMENTS ON IT.
I am pretty sure you'd get a much better deal and your game would be rated 4.5+ with that change.

had to join in the crowd here. awesome, addicting game. completely ruined by the insane desire for cash from the developer.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I'd gladly pay to play this game...once. The idea that you can buy the top level package (Mythril starter pack) and STILL have to spend thousands of tokens unlocking content is criminal. You make a good product, I'm happy to support you, but not when you act like this. This game will go the same way as Critter Forge: people will be excited at first, but interest will wane as people see how much you try to gouge us. Sure you'll make a few bucks up front, but you are ruining your reputation with your customers.

Clearly a lot of developers don't understand how to properly implement micro transactions. If you want to go that route, anything that can be bought through micro transactions should be available in game normally, either through earning or paying in game currency, or to speed things up for those who don't want to wait can pay for, but don't do this for game time, or at least drop the time it takes to get more game time.
Seriously I shouldn't have to pay to unlock recipes, it could be that getting to a certain level or using some amount of in game currency with the option to pay to unlock early.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
making us PAY to unlock recipes that we cant get any other way is criminal but even after that how with most of them we cant use unless we PAY MORE for the stupid 'premium' resources is just plain old evil

This game makes me want to drive to the hardware store, ask where the milk is, and then yell at the manager because they're always out of stock.

So originally I thought everyone was just complaining because they needed tokens to get things done more easily, which i dismissed because i don't mind going the extra mile and getting the items the hard way, then I came across the clock, the clock that wont let you play anymore unless you wait X amount of minutes or pay tokens, yep that ruined it. Why would you put a game like this on kong? Games like these should be reserved for facebook, Id rather play this game for a few hours and be happy with it rather than end up having to play it for days and days and just get more and more aggravated. Without the tokens it would be my favorite game, I was really looking for something close to a pawn shop game for the longest time and this one satiated my craving, oh well greed is a funny thing sometimes.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I wonder if creating a game is really this easy... otherwise I couldn't explain why someone would waste time and efforts into a game and then going all the way ruining it just cause of greed. And it's not like it's the first time, I've played Sorcery Quest for quite awhile and I've been a token user there until they started to ask for my inner organs (don't know about Critter Forge, but I guess it's the same). I mean, you make a game with a nice colorful graphic, with original and addicting gameplay and then you decide to ask for tokens for every single breath players take while playing; with less asking for tokens all of your games would have a lot more players, a 4.5+ rating here on Kongregate and you would have a better reputation and probably even a better income than now. I know you can play without tokens if you want, but the game loses all its enjoyableness that way. Just saying.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Yeah, nice try with the whole token thing there. This isn't Facebook. We don't fall for that here. Pity, Was actually a pretty sweet game
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Why should I have to wait for the next day? Seriously, to do anything in this game, you have to pay for it. Not what 75 % of the people playing this want. It is fun at first, but then it's just BUY TOKENS, BUY THEM NOW!
Why don't you just have advertisements? It's so much simpler for the players and developers.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
My favorite part about the game is that right when I got addicted the developer all but ordered me to stop playing the game. Thanks for making it easy to stop playing forever by requiring real world money for almost every aspect of the game!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The whole token thing really is too bad. The game isn't really playable for more than a few minutes without them. I would play this game A LOT if it weren't for that. I'd rate it 5 stars if not for that, instead 1. Huge FAIL. Try again.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Man, if you're going to make a game that's so dependent on tokens, at LEAST give players some sort of daily token package or something. If you want to make a few extra bucks off a game, do it with ADVERTISEMENTS. People wouldn't mind watching a twenty second ad, but they DO mind being driven mad with being pressured to spend a few bucks every 10 actions or so. Kongregate is SUPPOSED to be a site where you can play "free online games" they should stop with these stupid Kreds, They're really ruining the site...

If i was a shopkeeper in this world and saw my new customer walk inside, shove his way past the front desk and run to my treasure chest in the back. Then stare at it for 30min and afterwards run out of my store. I might want to implement some new directives for my thug.

And yet nothing will change on this game, because it's a money hungry game maker, i mean seriously check the rest of his games, this game has the potential to be GREAT, just take away the day limit and gives us a token for every few sales we do.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
You know what would be cool? The possibility to interrupt your research or your thief operations. I missclick sometimes and have to wait for my thieve more than my seven days.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I think it's fine for a small percentage of the customers to want items from a shop that's not mine. But at least 50% of the people who come into my shop seem completely clueless as to what I sell and don't want anything I have to sell.

@clangy84: To get the points you must join a guild and the guild members will have to improve your improvements. To join a guild ask someone to invite you and accept the invitation.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I really don't understand why this game is multi-player. The principle is great, but without the guild option, it's a single-player game. The only interact I find out it's waiting for the server...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
So an Apron takes 32 hours to research and sells for 675 gold... Then you get Priest's robes that only take 21 hours to research and only sell for an extra 20 gold... Seems legit ._.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I honestly didn't mind missing out on half of the game because of tokens, until I ran out of days. I'm not sitting around waiting for more days, and I'm not giving you my money. 5/5 without the token feature, and sadly, 3/5 with the money begging.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Is it really necessary to bombard me with workers looking for jobs 5 times a day? They're all lower level than my workers and I'll never click yes, ever. Yet I know I'll have to decline these multiple times a day for the rest of the life of my account?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Do the dev's realize that 100 tokens = 10 kreds = $1 . Keeping this in mind, look at all the things you need tokens for like recipes, high end crafting materials (which is absolutely ridiculous), store upgrades, extra days, etc.... Unlocking just a fraction of this game will cost you well over $50.... this is not ok for a FLASH GAME. Maybe if tokens were like 1000 to 1$ I would consider it, but in no way are you justified in saying this flash game should be more expensive that much better NON-Flash games.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
i hate these kinda games where to fully enjoy the whole experience you have to pay real money D: it really is a good game but the amount i can do isnt alot because of the need to pay real money
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Heres an idea: every time you successfully sell an item, BAM 1 free token, or every time you successfully finish researching something, free token.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
This game is 5/5, but the i had do subract 10 cause of the tokens, w/o tokens, its the coolest shop mannagement game i have ever played, thats original, and well made, and has alot of cool stuff in it.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Without tokens and facebookstyle guilds this could be the highest rated game on Kongregate. Please devolopers please. Your games are awesome you could do so much better if only you didn't do this Microtransactionstuff. There are enough other examples of enourmous successful games who make their money with advertisements shared revenues
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
It would be nice if you could organize the recipes when you go into "Craft" instead of see all the recipes, some that you dont evencraft anymore, you just see the ones that you want to make. a lot less scrolling.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Oh you delirious designers.. I cant buy a workshop with hard earned gold? I have to join a guild and beg for points? That is a step backwards from the norm... 1 star...

Now this upsets me. It's one thing to ask for money throughout the game, but to prevent players from continuing after playing so many days? BS. Big time. If this game didn't have that it'd be a 4.5/5, but because of the audacity of the developer, it's dropped to a 2/5 and is a 2 only because of the great gameplay

I really enjoyed this game up until I purchased a 5k item improvement and after the fact was informed that i needed 'improvements' from guild members for this item to start working, just because i had purchased it with my hard earned gold instead of tokens. This is unacceptable.
