Buried Alive!

Created by: avatar for EntropicOrder EntropicOrder

Description (Game published on 2008-04-16)

A Tetris-inspired action/puzzle game of avoiding and stacking falling bricks of dirt, rock and sand to climb your way to safety. 6 unique bosses try to squish, drown, burn or slice you with different level traps and weapons while piling dirt on top of you. Prepare for a challenging game of escaping your early grave! (FYI, the story is based on the my Rooftop Skater game. Also, big thanks to my sponsor eArcade.org!)

Instructions

Try to reach the top and escape with your life through all 6 levels. Left and right arrow keys to move and climb up short blocks of material. Get the blocks to form steps while avoiding getting squished as they fall. Each material type acts differently when it lands. For some levels, stop rising liquid by landing blocks on to the liquid spring. The quicker you escape the higher your score. Unlock levels 5 & 6 by beating any 2 and 4 levels respectively.

EO, this is a great game. 5/5. Would you consider making it available for people to embed in their own sites, under Creative Commons?

Finally beat the death level. That one should be the last level, as the real last level isn’t nearly as tough. Thanks for a fun gaming experience, and I look forward to seeing your next game.

Love the game, but it is very difficult. I can’t help wishing there was a difficulty setting, as well as some background music. Right now I’m stuck on the death level.

Clever concept, nice implementation. It could use some great sound to round it off wonderfully. 4/5 stars.

I promise you the levels are beatable and I spent tons of time QAing, fixing bugs and making sure the levels are beatable. That’s cool if you’re done playing, but hopefully these tips help you beat the game. Let me know if you have any suggestions for the game based on my explanation of how the levels work.

For the death level, the key is to start out by landing blocks on top of the floating blocks, and then waiting for him to throw his scythe and get him to throw it down through the floating blocks to get them out of the way. There is a bit of luck in how frequently he throws his scythe, but it should be every 3-5 blocks he throws. If a floating stack of blocks reaches the top of the hole, the whole stack will fall which is pretty much devastating to getting out alive as you're either trapped or squished by it. Therefore, keep the stacks short by spreading out which floaters you land blocks on and clear out the ones closest to the top first. Once you get the floaters cleared out, then start landing them on the floor to climb out as normal.
