Under rating threshold (show) Very nice. It's like if Solstice and The Hobbit had a Flash baby.

Under rating threshold (show) I have a pet peeve against isometric views, so that doesn't help, the controls are frustrating. The game got boring pretty as a result.

Under rating threshold (show) the game could be more interesting to play, if the controls were more intuitive.

Under rating threshold (show) this reminds me of an old game called "Magnetic Tank" I used to have on my atari 520 STe. at least, I think it was called that... anyway, that had an isometric perspective but it was never a problem. the graphics, music and general presentation is very slick. i think maybe the actual game just aint that hot. the graphics (although well produced) seem to be too chunky and clunky for a game where timing and avoidance are your passport to success. maybe have some sort of basic attack function? or make the main character smaller? the collision detection (or whatever it's called) seems to be all clumsy. nice idea tho, i like "fantasy" based games!

Under rating threshold (show) Pretty good game. Dont see anything wrong with the controls. Thats the way that a lot of games use to move if yall are complaining about the arrow keys. You need to have 2 or 3 lives though instead of 1.

Under rating threshold (show) I agree with Annihilator. It's a good game, but the controls don't blend with the layout and the view is constantly annoying.

Under rating threshold (show) Thanks Annihilator for your detailed suggestion, I find it very constructive and makes a lot of sense to me. Unfortunately isometric games seem doomed by their very perspective. My favourite work-around the control issue was to change kind of isometric perspective into one that is more aligned with the key directions (see Acid Factory on miniclip.com). I don't think I'll change the control system of Goldyard though as it's an old project of mine that I've uploaded on Kongregate only because there was no official version of it on the Internet (after I discontinued its website a year ago). But there are 3 different keys configurations available and in my experience it doesn't take long before you get used to the 45 degrees rotated movement. Other players have suggested to rotate the keyboard of 45 degrees, perhaps you guys might want to take that into consideration too ;-) Thanks everybody for your feedback and please and keep comments and criticism coming (nice words accepted too!)

Under rating threshold (show) I believe everyone's biggest problem is the isometric perspective... the controls use up-down-left-right to move diagonally, so to prevent constant screwups you'd need to keep your head tilted 45 degrees sideways to have intuitive controls. Solstice and Equinox had the same kind of view, same kind of controls, but had an option to swap controls from isometric (up -> diagonally up+left) to direct (up -> straight up). The environments become more challenging because you're not moving in parallel to the obstacles, but the controls become more intuitive, and with simultaneous arrow movement (up+left -> up+left) I believe it would improve the controls greatly

Under rating threshold (show) Good graphics, pretty good game play, but I'm not gonna lie, the rotated controls messed me up. Its just too hard to play to have enough fun. Everything, that I have seen, is good, except for the movement controls.

Under rating threshold (show) Even with the arrow keys I can't properly manuver, I hate it when isometric games rotate the controls 45 degrees, I can never figure out if "down" is "down-right" or "down-left"

Under rating threshold (show) Nice graphics and concept, but the controls are a bit wacky. I think that is something that can be gotten used to, but there is a bit of a learning curve to it. How about a check point along the way? And if you get to close to the dart spitting face it does this rapid fire thing that will kill you in a second. May want to try and correct that. In all I think it was a well put together game, just a little tweaking here and there. Nice work!

Under rating threshold (show) I actually found this game to be thoroughly entertaining - a visually attractive isometric adventure romp in the vein of many games and systems of long ago gaming past. Unfortunately Gold Yard is also hampered by some of the horriblest controls I've seen (the arrow keys just never seem to make him go where you want) which are further complicated by the awful collision detection which sees you slowly ricocheting off some objects and into others... Overall, fun but glitchy, worth a try! Would love to see the next version with a few technical issues resolved. Cheers for the fun ten minute time-waster, though!
