Gravitee
Description
(Game published on 2007-09-28)
Gravitee is golf in space, using real world Newtonian Physics. A quick tutorial mode will help you learn the basics, but only the most skilled will unlock the 20+ bonuses throughout the ten levels of play.
Updates
If I say this one more time I think I may actually go insane. Planets and suns are handled exactly the same. A sun is exactly the same as a planet, just with a different graphic inside. Have a look at this image unproductive knocked together: http://kundor.org/pub/gravitee.png The was done in the level editor and shows how suns attract the ball exactly the same way planets do. All planets (and suns) attract the ball at all times. The suns and planets even have the masses on them. The "suns have more gravity" theory is partially down to placement of the suns and partially down to your brain making a big deal of it when you hit a sun. Please, give it up everyone, I am the developer, I know the code!
V1.4 Uploaded... this takes care of the unvisitable planet bug (which I affectionetly refer to as the 339 bug!) :) - You'll need to go right up to the end of the round for this info to save! IF you've done this and its still not working then let me know! :)
Right, new version uploaded! V1.1 includes an orange preview line (so you can see the path the ball will travel in). The preview line shrinks in size on each round so you'll find you'll do pretty well to start with, and things will slowly get harder! You can turn this line off too now, so hopefully this should strike a diplomatic balance between the people who think that the preview line kills off the challenge, and the people who feel the preview line helps make the game better. There are now platinum medals to be earned, by meeting the gold medal criteria, but with the preview line turned off for every stroke in the round. Turn off the preview line with the second icon in the top left of the screen (in game).
The most requested feature is also in place; you can now abort your shot, the hole, and the entire round now.
I've tweaked the physics slightly. The physics are spot on Newtonian, except for the planet masses (which are written on the planets now). Using completely accurate masses really destroys the game! For example, the biggest planet is roughly twice as wide as the smallest planet. Using real world volumes would make the biggest planet 8 times as massive. You would have to hit the ball very hard to escape the planet's gravity. If you were on a small planet, the same power shot would almost definitely knock the ball out of bounds. The planet masses in this game work at a pretty nice balance. It's a question of gameplay over realism. Perfect realism would render the game unplayable, so it's a no brainer really! Plus, the new preview line really helps to learn how hard the ball needs to be hit.
There are a few other features included too, such as the arrow now longer being confined to a rectangular box; it's circular now! I've also tweaked the power a bit.
Bug reports are appreciated! Let me know what you think of the changes! I'll be knocking up a page to describe some of the mechanics and results that people have misinterpreted and commented on. Feel free to email feedback to stu [at] funkypear [dot] com.

Flag this comment as inappropriateFor some reason I absolutely hate this game. This is possibly because of the reason that I am completely rubbish at it. It is so boring though. I would rate this game 2/10.

OMG I’m stuck on the last level Platinum. That is BULL
