I'm guessing the giant brown circles at the end are craters created by the cards like "silo". I suppose there was a war or something and the cards are based on the war(which makes sense cause the robot thing turned out to be real). Maybe that's how the card game is related to the forest.

My thought process: You expect me to go play cards when there's a mysterious off-limits place? Screw that! Ah, here we go...huh, corpses, cryptic messages hinting at some sort of doomsday- Oh. Oh my.
