Under rating threshold (show) This is a wonderful game with a poem about how a mother is trying to find his son. The emotions you have added to the game made it well written, along with the background music amplifying it. And then, she know that all along the boy is looking for her. The last two lines, "There is no hope in searching more; for I'm the one he's searching for." Not only that, but when the boy finds the ghost mother and falls down... It makes me believe that the boy is actually searching for a way out of a life in where his mother is dead, and the mother grieves because when she died, she felt she left her son behind.

+ - !

(3)

Developer response from GroZZleR

That's definitely one way to interpret it. That's the great thing about the narrative, there is no one "right" way. I'm glad you enjoyed it and connected with the experience.

Under rating threshold (show) Although the execution is unique, the fact that you don't know where you're going can cause confusion - and the lack of a "restart level" can easily make things stuck, because falling off a ledge doesn't reset the boxes you may or may not have pushed into the right place.

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from GroZZleR

The boxes should definitely reset every time you fall off. Is that not the case for you?

Under rating threshold (show) I love games that are like this. They show so much meaning of how people in the real world are. Like this one for example, you are a boy, searching for his mother but no matter what you still search for her but in the end, it was never possible to even reach to her. The boy is forever searching for his mother and will be alone and lost. It sucks to think reality this way but we all must face it and keep moving forward.

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from GroZZleR

I don't think that's the _only_ way to approach the world, but yes, sorrow is just a much a part of our lives as happiness. It's fun to explore the entire range of human emotions.

Under rating threshold (show) I love the story as it fits with my childhood - and life in general. I've been searching for my Mom forever through fractured thoughts and memories; through heartache, pain and loss. From a child to an adult. I've been searching for her - because she's dead. It may not be the original concept behind the story; but that's what a great piece of art is - it is able to be interpreted and felt at a deeper level when there isn't a direct explanation. Phenomenal work Grozzler! I am off to play the second one now.

+ - !

(3)

Developer response from GroZZleR

I'm sorry to hear that. It's comforting to see that you choose not to wallow in self pity for a life that "might have been" but instead opt to grow from the experience and become a better person for it. Thank you very much for sharing.

Under rating threshold (show) Hey, Escher, when did you get into making Flash games? But seriously, this is a brilliant piece of work. The puzzles are challenging, but not frustrating, and between the brilliant poetry and haunting voice acting, it gives it an additional creepy edge that, when combined with the broken aesthetic of the world design, makes it very effective in conveying emotion. The poetry accompanying the game is absolutely delightful, and I could easily reach the cap just complimenting it, but suffice it to say that it suits the game perfectly. Overall, an easy 5/5

Feb. 8, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) That story, though. It looks like a little bot just lost his mother. She's dead, and she's the one reading the poem. She's trying to stop the little boy from following her, but in the end, in the last level, he kills himself to be with her. Hence, the leap of faith into the void. I could be wrong, but that's what I got from the game. And if that's the case...this "innocent" game is very, very sad.

+ - !

(3)

Developer response from GroZZleR

Your interpretation is entirely fair but there's more than one way to interpret the story. Perhaps the boy finally learns to let go of his mother and move on with his life instead of following her shadow? In this case, the story is actually quite opposite of sad.

Under rating threshold (show) There are a few levels where you can skip most of it since you start above the ghost. I guess that's probably intentional, since it would be pretty obvious while you design the level.

Under rating threshold (show) i love the game. original concept. and i love (well, the masochistic kind of love...) how in the end you leap blindly trusting the game to make you fall in to the platform, and then realising you leaped to your death. feels simbolic, and a great corelation between the meaning of the game and the game mechanics. 5/5

Under rating threshold (show) Very lovely! Backgrounds do an awesome job of conveying a sense of surreal location and assisting the game mechanic of traversing the fractures. The music is pleasantly immersive, yet just jarring enough (with the electric guitar) to fit the overall mood and theme. You're right, this is quite the unique theme! I finished the story with one or two falls, but the bonus levels do *not* want me to continue. :) Also, beautifully unoffensive morally. 5 stars. Excellent job.
