Under rating threshold (show) Extra Credits (The show) brought me here. You have just taught me a new way to look at a valuable more in life, friend. Regardless of anything, you are here and this is your place in the world. There will always be an opportunity for something; anything. Unfortunately for many, the opportunity doesn't go as hoped. But even then, when that opportunity has past, a new one will appear. Just keep trying to find the next one, and then the next one, and eventually you will find something. Y'know, it may not be what you expect - perhaps even nothing you hoped for - but if you listen just as much as you hope to be heard, you will find something you hardly knew you wanted in the first place. In the end, all is well. Always.

Under rating threshold (show) It's funny how a game so simplistic can convey so much meaning. Not in the story itself, but in the fact that you write the story as you play it. The meaning is different for everyone, because it relies on how you play it to be a meaningful experience. Because every way to play it is a meaningful experience, because it explains how you deal with loneliness. Definitely needs better ratings. This teaches such a valuable lesson in game design that many overlook. The fact that Video Games are a way to tell a story about yourself. That it's YOUR experience, not the main characters.

Under rating threshold (show) I really like this, I don't think it deserves its low score at all. It's a game that can trigger some soul-searching. It isn't over-complicated at all- plenty of flash games I enjoy because they're complicated enough to drown out my sadder thoughts, but this helped me to engage with them. 5/5 from me.

Under rating threshold (show) I imagined I was the alpha square of my territory, driving away competing squares. By the end, I was quite pleased with my handiwork! Guess this game is a matter of perspective.

Under rating threshold (show) Today, a bunch of pixels arranged to look like random squares in a screen punched me in the face and made me think about myself and my life. I dare you, I double dare you to play this and keep believing games are not art.

Under rating threshold (show) As of the while writing this comment I am taking a short break from making my own video about the fact that while video games have the ability to become art, few if any have reached that level just yet. This game about squares, is without question art. perhaps not the first game to become art but one of the very few clear examples of it.

Under rating threshold (show) Featured on Extra credits again :D I agree with them it totally is a game and I really liked it. ALL of you NEED to play Timeframe, especially if you enjoyed this. Timeframe is the most emotional game I have played in a while and it is 10 minutes long

Under rating threshold (show) It reminded my my childhood, when I was smaller, it hitted me like a rock, reminded me what loneliness is. But like I always do, I tend to deal with sad things in a very amusing way/laughing about it to wash away these feelings, even now, I played it again and played bittersweet symphony in the background and walked stright throw them all the way :P

Under rating threshold (show) This game actually brought me to tears. I've been going through an odd time recently trying to learn about myself (coming out of a brief time when I kind of forgot). I, like many of you probably did, came here through Extra Credits of Youtube. I thought as I started the game, "I don't really experience things. This game does not make me feel lonely like it should." But as I played not understanding what to do and feeling awkward, I decided to run with the pixels as they dispersed. I had fun, running through the game. I wondered why and realized what I was finding so much joy in all of a sudden: I liked making them move. That was all. I had almost forgotten that part of myself. Thank you.

Under rating threshold (show) 'Loneliness’ has much in common with 'Loved' by Alexander Ocias - also not a game, but an interesting interactive short story. 'Loneliness' is an interesting interactive poem: the inability to reach your goal, i.e. touching other squares, is a metaphor for futility, one that can't be achieved in any other medium because it works by subverting the gamer's expectation that there is a "point" to what they're doing. But 'Loneliness' is so small that it can neither succeed nor fail. As an experiment in expression, sure, it succeeds - and there's a place for experimenting with expression, e.g. the dream sequences in 'Max Payne'. But it can’t fail because its only goal is to tell you what loneliness is, not what to do about it. There's 2 ways of dealing with loneliness: being emo; and being metal. Be metal. Don't dwell on how much loneliness sucks (which is the message of 'Loneliness', since it has no other message). Make art. Make music. Play 'Costume Quest'. It's awesome!

Under rating threshold (show) The meta-game reason for it aside; it does have nice music and visuals, but you can't use 'minimalist' as an excuse for not having any real content. There'd be many ways to take some time and actually give it a point beyond the meta-game point to it. Games can have meanings and messages beyond just being a 'game,' but a game must have some sort of rules and goals to it to fulfill its primary purpose as a game. Without that, it doesn't matter the reasoning or point to it, it'll just be dull.
