@arakantos, the problem with using Companion Cavalry in that is is that the enemy is quite capable of responding by sending several spear infantry to fight it. Companion Cavalry may be strong, but it can't beat 5 Kardake or Medean Infantry. If you use this strategy, I recommend buying at least ten and/or using archer/peltast support.

If you feel the game is too easy try wining son of zeus in minimum time (5 years). This means you have to take a province every turn and cannot loose a battle. After some struggle I manage to do it about half of the times I try. The strongest start I found is upgrading armor and trade routes first turn and buy swords the second. From that point on you try to only buy as few units as possible to secure the win and making the important upgrades (giving priorities to weapon and armor upgrades) and only transitioning to stronger units when you can by having easier fights next round (since buying stronger units is expensive and will reduce your army size). The reason armor and weapon upgrades are better than gold is because you are loosing less money by having stronger units and wining the fight faster than you gain by getting gold upgrades (that being said you should still make few gold upgrades when possible). Hope this tips help :)

Why is everyone saying this game is too hard? Just 1 very easy strategy and I win 100%. Save up for the best horses, buy 5 of them (in the beginning) and just keep using them. Not a single other unit in the entire game. In the game itself, always send a horse in a free spot. This horse wins 1vs1 against ALL enemies. It kills the enemy and you get the 1 unit back. If they zerg-rush you, just keep doing this. One by one, you'll kill their until they're all dead and you haven't lost a single horse.

Way too difficult, the difficulty needs to be toned WAY down, to like a tenth of its current state. You really cannot win as the opponent just zerg rushes you before you can even react. Badly made game.

8.75 years in Son of Zeus mode, army was always basic units ONLY (couldn't hire more advanced troops for some reason. Took like 5-6 militia to take down individual Cataprhacts lol)

one thing i really like about this game is that there isnt unlimited troops, you can lose by just running out of soldiers, which in other games like this one, you can't

gameplay is decent but also dumb.who the fuk sends troops like this without formation?alexander did not,of course.the idea of his army was a perfect formation with 5m spears to kill anyone before he even gets close.and awesome cavalry too.

I love games like this, where you conquer lands and grow in power. this is even better than swordfall kingdoms!!! 9001/5

To be honest, this game is CRAP. Its like warlords, but alot worse. If I was the dev I'd honestly pull this game down... sorry but its just a load of crap. Also, these guys wear spartan armor.

If you want to make this game a challenge, set your mind to conquering a province every single turn. Suddenly you need to really carefully balance conquest and development.

If you're fully upgraded you can just use any cavalry. And you'll win any battle. Even the scouts kill their counter units. It's to easy.
