For those curious about how to play this with SuperNova SWF Enabler plug-in, use this address provided below by copying the entirety of it and pasting it onto the address bar at the top of your browser to ensure that it bypasses the ‘GameShell’ issue that have plagued many earlier games of Kongregate: supernova://play/?swfurl=https://chat.kongregate.com/gamez/0010/2267/live/hackslashcrawlK.swf?kongregate_game_version=1299640027 Make sure that your latest installation of SuperNova works correctly, as it will not function if it cannot load games that can work fine without this bypassing of the SWF files here (Used Google Chrome dev tools to get the link).

It's still asking me to download super nova, is there some setting I need to be able to play with the integrated ruffle plugin? I'd rather not download anything if possible

Playing as a magic type now,[build doesn't matter for comment] I can see that the spell "fire blast" almost never causes the damage over time that it's suppose to. At first I thought it was per enemy. Of course you can't light a fire skeleton on fire... but this happens to all enemy types, and it's not even consistent. For instance the DoT applied to the standing green fish thing once, but never again to the exact same enemy type.

When the room boss has charge you are 100% going to die. Charge beats entangle and bypasses vine field so you can't negate it. You can't strategically retreat as all charge enemies cannot be evaded after aggro... you're just screwed. I would also like to add that magic seems to be FAR stronger than fighting. I made a Golem explorer and turned him into a tank. Later on I pick up a sword with ignite and I mauled though room after room with it despite not putting a single level up point into will or int, as up to this point I was charging and later on wild charging, bouncing off enemies like a spider monkey on crack. If setting enemies on fire with an AoE spell performs better with lower stats in relevant skills than actually using strength in stamina in high amounts, you have a REALLY BAD balancing issue.

I submitted a screenshot, as the badge wasn't working with Supernova. Please award me the badge of the day before the day changes.

@Azula123: I don't see why what you posted could cause issues. As long as people earn the title by playing the game then everything is fine. All your post does is let people know that certain titles mean they have completed the requirement for the badges, not give a link to software that will alter the save file to say you completed the requirements.

Naud: I have pm'd you information which I previously wrote to help another, which should help you play the game. There was too much to put here, or I would have done so. If you have any other questions, feel free to pm me.

An all time favorite game of mine I never did get to floor 15 but still it was always fun trying and getting new titles along the way!

Really boring and frustrating game. Fight the wrong enemy? You're screwed because he's impossible to defeat and you can't even run away because he's much faster than you. How do I even know if I can beat him in the first place? Try it out and ruin my match?

There is a way to track your easy and medium Kong badges progress in this game by looking at the titles you earned and using an, ahem, outside source to check how you earned them. I hope this is okay to post here. Basically try googling "flashgaming fandom Hack Slash Crawl" and you'll find a table showing all titles, what their requirements are, and what their effects are on selection. It appears to be accurate as far as I can see (I died a few times without killing anyone, surrounded by enemies, with an empty inventory etc and the correct titles were unlocked for me) so that's one way of proving things. Eg, if you have the Bonemaster or Devastating title that's the criteria for the easy Kong badge sorted. There doesn't seem to be a title for Floor 15 or above (unless I missed it) so if anyone knows how to prove that one you better speak up :P

Mana Pearls Before Swine Badge
( medium - 15 points + 15 bonus Kongregate points )
You acquired this badge on Mar. 4, 2011.

I acquired this badge December 25, 2013. My dedication to Kong, even over the holidays, is still paying off more than 7 years later.

While I agree that it is far better if the game showed what level you are on (and more importantly that the game saves), why do you think that not seeing your level prohibits you from earning the hard badge? FYI, if you want to know what floor you've reached. Just check High Scores under Today with the Floor reached selection. That is quite easy enough to solve your problem. I don't remember if it registers that when you arrive, or when you finish the level, but even if the latter is the case, that is at most one level more which you would need to survive. If you fail to get to level 15 and have to start again, just remember to keep track of the levels yourself. If you are no where near that level yet, be very wary of the blue Ice Knights. You will need ice protection.

No floor level indicator means that there's no way to get the hard badge, because it's impossible to show what level you reached in a screen grab :(

I like the game very much. Challenging and fun. Would have been nice with a floor indicator and a means to save progress. The game is time intensive and a means to stop, save and continue later would have made this game all the better.

How to crack this game in one go:
1. Resistances are key in this game - pick Golem Cursed
2. Early game - focus on stamina, use items for will and swarm / bolt / incinerate
3. Around floor 15 - be sure to have items that give +55 fire and cold resistance in the ring slots, put 16-32 into will, split the rest between stamina and strength. Use entangle and charm to defend in critical situations
3. Late game, focus on maximizing strength, weapon damage, and armor, add an item that gives +55 electric resistance. Critical damage + charge are key must have skills for quick floor clearance.
The game ends when it freezes - have fun!

This is the most consistently good browser game I have ever played. It came out when I was in high school, and yet I still find myself coming back to it all these years later. I wish the creator would take all the feedback from the comments, expand on the game, port it to an engine such as Unity, and re-release it as a full game. Especially on mobile platforms, good dungeon runners are severely lacking even after all this time. I would happily buy such a game. It is a shame to see such potential go unused.

Yaaaay!!! Finally. After a whole month, I got to the 15th floor. XD Golem cursed is really a great combination, thanks to the advices/guides. :)

For some reason most of the runs the RIP stone bears no awarded title (they can be repeated so that's not the reason).

Oddjoe: Mana Pearls are not usable in the game. They simply register as your wealth (and are scored as such under Kongregates' Achievements tab).

Should really limit mobs from skill spamming. The golems spamming dash makes mage build need to aggro as little mob or they would just dash you to death

Made it to lvl 15 with a lvl 26 human fighter (legendary & epic). 80 str, 70 sta, 25 will, 50 intellect. The trick is to pick them off one by one and obtain either a charm spell to charm healers, or a heal spell to heal yourself. Slow and steady wins the race.

HARD BADGE: I got it as a Vampire Reaper, epic and devastating. Vampire heals from physical attacks and this gets very strong in later game, with critical I healed over 50 health in one hit. CRITICAL seem to scale with both strength and intellect, multiplicative. Thus, putting roughly twice as many points into strength than intellect should be optimal, with some stamina and willpower not to be overly fragile. You need NO OTHER ABILITIES, with entangle being useful at times, but unnecessary. What you need however, is RESISTANCES. A resistance of 100 makes you immune to the element. There are ice knights who only deal elemental damage, and there is lots of fire damage as well, I'm not sure about anything else. Equipment is a huge lottery, so if you want the hard badge, you might also need some GOOD LUCK.

Just found this out: If you remove an item after having summoned a skeleton, it stays with you until it's out of HP. Just repeat and switch.
