Flash Tutorial 1: Character Movement

Created by: avatar for Yishan Yishan

Description (Game published on 2008-11-17)

This Flash movie is to help you all improve your Flash making skills. It will walk you through all the steps that are needed to start a good Flash Game. This version of the tutorial will show you how to make a character, and more importantly, show you how to control your character using the arrow keys.

Do not rate this game low just because you don’t want to read all of the “crap.” It took me a while to make considering that no one else taught me, and it certainly doesn’t make me feel better if someone gives a 1/5 just because they don’t like reading it.

Updates

Updates:

- The game’s tutorial’s frame rate has been decreased to 8 frames per second. It should relatively make it easier to read and experiment with the game.

- I am going to be adding a “Next Button” and serveral new tutorials for the next week, and all of these feats will probably be added and submitted in by Christmas. Be on the lookout for new ones!

Instructions

Arrow Keys to move the circle around. Also, if you are a developer, or want to be one, just leave a shout on my profile that you want the codes. Give me your email adress too, and I’ll send you the codes needed to get started.

Code must be copypastable, it must use the BUTTONS to go through steps, higher framerate please, add some real movement like go forward - UP arrow, turn a bit left - LEFT arrow, with angles it's much better. 1/5

Adding friction is the same as adding power, that should have been done, and also easy frame shift buttons also would have been nice, so the frames could be paused. (tips for next time)

I think that you should be able to choose when you can move on instead of it being on a timer.
