You have to click on the actor palette option and then the motion sub-tab in the palette. Does that make sense (btw, it will likely look different than in the tutorial. Check the "news" section to see any differences.).

I really like this toturial of yours, but how can I make the player move diagnolly when I press up and left or down and right, etc?
I believe that's covered in part 2 (might be part 3 though). You can find links for the rest of the tutorials (as well as notes as to what are the differences between what is shown and the current version of Stencyl) in the "News" section.

What I Mean is Like for much Gravity and the coding for like player to move left and right and jump. your Tutorial 4: Shooting & HP i can not understand it um is the tutorial out of date for the shooting & HP?.
In the "News" section (which is unfortunately now hidden instead of easy to find), you can find all of my updates. One section covers the differences between this series and the latest Stencyl versions. The others are links to more tutorials, including a second set based on the current version, which directly covers how to make a platformer.

I'm sorry for writing this, but it seems this tutorial is out of date. I find Stencyl - Crash Course from their official site more useful than this. I crash on your tutorial wile making controls for my actor. The command "Always" is changed in new version of Stencyl so is VERY hard to follow your tips.
Nothing should actually crash, so that is surprising. It is indeed based off of Stencyl 1.2 (and Stencyl is about to reach 3.0). That said, check the "Changes to Current Version" in the notes area... unfortunately with the reworking of the website (which I do not like), that is now hidden. It does go over the major changes though. Also, you can always check out the SECOND tutorial set, based off of the current version of Stencyl (again the links are in the now-hidden news section).
I get mixed reactions to the suggestion of music. In the end, music greatly increases the size of the game unless one loses quality (at least I don't know how to do it), so for the sake of size (and hence loading time), I keep music out.

Hey im haveing a Problem When I Reached the part that Said Collision Groups I Didn't Find it in Stencyl And i didn't Even find the game Settings
Something inside of Stencyl likely became corrupted. If you haven't done much in Stencyl yet, try doing a complete uninstall, re-download Stencyl, and re-install it. If you have files that you wish to save (or if that does not fix the issue), then I would suggest going to the Stencyl forums and posting in "Ask A Question", adding in the zip file and anything else you can find. I am not good personally with issues involving Stencyl itself.

Great tutorial. I'm all set to try it out myself (I've read the old version on the Stencyl site) and just waiting to download it now. Great work Abigayl, I can't wait to see your other tutorials.
In 2.x, Stencyl got rid of the old collision codes. Now you need to add event -> Collisions. Generally you will want "with actor of type". (BTW, be sure to check my "Notes" section between this comment section and the tutorial for a list of the major changes to 2.x).
I've heard Stencyl compared a lot to Scratch since they both sound like they have similar building-block-style programming. I have never tried it myself, but from what I have heard, it trades off power for simplicity.
Don't worry about that. Sometimes, a behavior will have attributes that you can configure directly from the actor itself; none of my behaviors take advantage of that.

Thank you so much for the time invested in these tutorials, i never leave comments but felt you were really owed a Thank you.

Thanks a lot for your effort, this is a lot of help to get started. There's a newer version out of Stencyl, wich slightly differs from the one shown in your tutorial, but most of the time i managed to do the same as you. The only large difference was around the test colission part, but i figured it out in the end. Thank you!
Should I make the "Extra Information" heading bigger or re-word it? In that news post, I go over all of the changes to the current version. I'm glad it helped though.

hey, I didn't find the "always" thing in the coding (where "if", "otherwise if") and how do you make an actor like that mine always is a square :D?
Starting in 2.0, you need to first "Add Event" (it's close to the top on the left side). "Always" is one of the "Basic" events. I think that answers your question... was a bit hard to figure out what you are asking.

this must be out of date. I click actor behaviors and the choices look different. I create new and I cannot drag any commands into the left side because there is nothing there yet
This was for Stencyl 1.0. I have worked hard though to keep the "Extra Information" section up-to-date with any changes. For example, the third listed is that the headings are no longer naturally there. Instead you need to click "Add Event" on the top of the left-side palette.
Thanks :). Unfortunately, it will never get badges. For some reason, when I made this tutorial, I figured that since I hadn't explained how to use Kong API in the tutorial, that I shouldn't use it myself... so no badges are possible (and I lose 10% of revenue for my second most-played submission)... and now the original file is lost from a computer crash, so I can't even fix my mistake :(. I appreciate the support though!

Hi, I started learning Stencyl this week, I just finished this first tutorial and have two questions: for this tutorial, is normal an actor looks like "out of orbit" when it collides with another actor? In this tutorial, how the "reload" transition should work?
I don't understand your first question... As for the second, it should black out the screen and come back the same screen but restarted (no blackout if you use a crossfade). For your first question, if you can send a PM or come to my livestream (livestream.com/poweredbyflowers), I can get your response faster and can try to help :).
