Thank you for responding to my message BTW this game is awesome and it looks like a lot of effort is this your first game?
Each level is customized, which greatly increased the file size, which I cannot do anything about at this point :(. I'm glad you liked the graphics though :).

really nice game. i would love to see a sequal! maybe you play as the person after he had changed back from a square!?
Originally, there was a sequel planned, "The Other Circle", where they return into the game world to rescue the pink girl's sister, but since I have left the internet, it is doubtful that will ever come to fruition.

This is very inspiring. Me, working on my very first stencyl game, never saw this much potential in stencylworks... Wow.
Thanks. With "Mr. Goldfish: Reboot", this is tied for my fullest Stencyl game (in my opinion anyways...). While there aren't many other good Stencyl games here on Kongregate, there are some on NewGrounds that cannot be found here.
:P. Ironically, the boss scales the least of any level. Whereas the levels get really insane on hard, the boss is still rather manageable (or it could just be me... :P).

That must be one REEEALLY good alt ending, cuz within 2 seconds of the pink appearing on lvl 6 on normal, i get sniped.
The "normal" alt ending is an extension of the ending scene. Unlock that by getting the pink at any difficulty (btw, can buy a custom difficulty option in the shop and make it even easier than "Cake") and then re-beating the game. The other alt ending (the button one) is just a different artist's interpretation of the end.
Yes I do respond to all comments ;). It does take a while to load due to the sheer amount of pictures and coding that went into the game. This was made before I learned how to do things elegantly (and thus taking up less room), but the real size issue came from using a high-quality music and all of the individual pictures since each level has its own theme...

So, touching walls kill you, touching the border of the game kills you...
and what the heck are you supposed to do on the boss?
To destroy the boss, you need to collect the stars that come out of him. Not all walls kill you, just the red ones (or stated ones, such as lava/electric).

I loved this game it was awesome the game name was nice I had to give it a 5/5 it is one of the best games Ive played (I played over 20000 games and this is in the top 10)
Wow, thank you :). If Stencyl 3.0 fixes the lag issues (it hasn't come out yet), one of my first goals is to make a sequel... "The Other Circle". Most of the details are already set up, just need to be able to avoid the lag issues (and have time to work on it; it's a decent-sized game).

Ahh, nice sequel! :)
I smashed some records while playing this game:
I now have all wall and burst survival top scores :D
Great game, 5/5 ♥
Yes, I do have plans for a sequel for it... been planning one ever since this was released. Once Stencyl 3.0 comes out, I plan to stop planning and start actually making it :P. Glad you liked it :)

kind of a fail if u play with wasd. cuz if u press up (w) and ctrl which is spd up, u close the window, so since my window closed i dont know if this is a good game. xD
It's a pretty big file. There's a lot of customization options, etc. in there. ... It was also the second game I ever made so I didn't know much about efficient coding techniques :P.

What fun! Many of these levels are really hard on "normal." Has anyone actually seen the alternate ending? Getting the pink circle on some of those levels (on normal) looks impossible! Great job.
I can get it without too much issue... but then again, I've played it longer than basically anyone else with all of my debugging. A lot of the difficulty goes away when you learn how to use control and shift to their full extent, moving slowly between circles and sprinting in clear spots.

A simple game, made with Stencyl, and you made it so well! So much shit has been pumping out of Stencyl that I thought no one cared to give a game any thought.
Thanks. I'm trying to prove that good games can be made with Stencyl since so much indeed is shovelware. My next game might have a shot at badges, depending on its reception, but right now I need to find a sponsor first.

whichever version you can crash into (it happened to me w/ the pink circle), it was horrible watching the it bounce around afterward after my thousands of previous attempts. But it did get rid of my rage, so it wasn't all bad.
Oh... never had that happen to me (except in Last Square Standing, where it can happen to basically anything in the game :P). Will keep an eye out for issue like that in future releases (I no longer have this base file since I cleaned out my computer :( )
Which version? There's two completely different versions of the level 7 dialogue, depending on whether or not you got the pink circle in all the previous levels or not. ;)

@Abigayl What about having the enemies already there before you start the level? there don't spawn any new ones and it becomes easier/possible to predict enemy movements.
Also, for strategy: enemies with different abilities? like simple enemies that just shoot or chase you, to more complex enemies which can spot you and force all enemies to you or maybe spawn (a limited amount) of new enemies!
I don't know, these are just examples of what I would like to see in the second version of this game. Thanks for responding to my comments!
Unfortunately, the sequel was lost in a computer malfunction a while ago. In it though, I did have enemies that chase you. I will think on those other ideas. Thanks :)

5/5, really enjoyed playing it. Beautiful yet amazingly simple, nice little motif at the end! But, why reach for the sky when there are footprints on the moon..?

@Abigayl
the circles spawn right next to you and are sometimes extremly fast. I found completing levels based on luck instead of skill/strategy. which I feel are very important in a game.
Generally speaking, the circles don't spawn right next to you (at least not when they begin spawning). That being said, in the next game (when I get back to making it), there's a red marker where circles come out from, which should help. Yes, there is a decent amount of luck in getting the right timing of the circles, but several levels rely more heavily on fast moving (i.e. maze, key, bomb, and door levels). There isn't a lot of strategy since this is more of an action game, but there is skill in quick reflexes and moving quickly through levels. If you have an idea for increasing the strategy, let me know.

lots of people seem to like it for it's story, but the game in itself is very bad. The spawning system could use some work and even on easy it's very hard to dodge the circles. (what do the modes do? less/more spawning?)
3/5, only for story, level design and concept
3/5, but only for the story and concept.
I don't get your comment. What would you improve about the spawning? Easy mode is supposed to be "easy"... The difficulties increase spawning rates, but that's about it. If you can be more clear about what you didn't like, then I can do better in the future ;). Glad you liked the story though.

I like the game. Clean simple and with a story. Perhaps you could had some colisions instead of just increasing number of enemies. And don't know if you want to continue this game (like the lonely square 2) you could had like shooting like in your tutorials ;).
Aye, cake was a last-minute addition, after the other 3 had been programmed... so I needed an "easier" sound than "easy"... and I figured a cake joke couldn't hurt :D
If you take the time to write a comment, I should take the time to respond. That's my stance anyways. Besides, I appreciate comments. They let me see what your thoughts are on my games. Because of comments, games have been radically changed over the months. This game is not nearly the game I first published ;)

all in all good game could use somw tweaks and abigayl hey you have me still muted but i have some ideas for a game and well
Even with all of my beta-testing, when this first came out, there were several issues with it. The game has gone through a ton of updates. Unfortunately, Kongregate only puts badges on NEW games that do well, not old ones that have been updated to the point to where now they are good. Thanks for your support though :)

If you click on the Menu, it takes you to a bunch of further options. One of which is the credits page, where you can find the links to all the artists who helped out :). The ending itself was done by Allexia from DeviantArt.

that was an exceptional in it's own right. the story line was certainly.... interesting. i haven't yet unlocked the alt ending (im working on it) but how exactly does a human get magically transformed into a square and gets stuck in a white room with other squares and a door taunting them to leave? i mean, perhaps the point is that there is none, but a random human turned into a square in a world inhabited by evil circles..... keep up the fresh ideas and make more :)
Thanks! The project started off as just an expansion of my minigame, but I wanted a lite storyline to go with it. Then, I got to thinking that if the characters could talk, why not make them human in the end? As for why he started off in the room or how he got there... tis a story for another time. There is indeed a backstory, but in case I can use it later on, don't want to reveal it now.
