Update01:

-Fixed extremely rare spawning of purple hearts

-Fixed scoring points after player ran out of health

Update02:

I realized that the original algorithm for spawning purple hearts was not working at all. Thank you all who mentioned it.

-Purple hearts now spawn after 40 regular heart kills

-Purple hearts do not count towards the number of hearts to advance to the next level nor do they add points to the playerโ€™s score.

Note: Purple hearts still do damage.

I havenโ€™t been able to replicate the instance when hearts stop spawning, but Iโ€™ve added a check to make sure if they do, it increases the level. Itโ€™ll take a few moments to do so if you are caught in this situation but Iโ€™ve found it to be extremely rare.

Decent game. I like the idea, but there becomes a point where its impossible to fight off all the hearts with your limited missiles, and the purple hearts don't come early enough to help. They should start in sooner levels. Also, an upgrade system would be a necessary addition and it would help round out the game, keeping you playing longer. All in all, 3/5.

Still seems like the purple hearts are only spawning one and it's at the very end of a round beginning round 12 or 13, however by the end of the round I've usually already used up all my missiles trying to save as many lives as possible, so I don't have a missile to shoot the purple heart with. Maybe disperse the purple hearts throughout the level more? Thanks for the update though.

It has potential, but there should be a way to gain more missiles. As Kijiman7 says, there comes a point where you can't kill them all with the number of given missiles (around 13)

@comments of running out of missiles...after level 13, purple hearts will start to appear that refill your stockpile.
