Hold left, tap space occasionally - on 10.000 feet got to about 18.000, makes sense. It's aaah... sort of bad, it works, about 15 minutes of gameplay until I exploded on the moon yet somehow survived.

I know this game is 7 years old, but it still deserves achievements more than 90% of the crap that get badges these days...

I do enjoy this game, but the gliding needs work, the whole game is just hold the back key and tap spacebar. If your nose isn't all the way up you don't gain altitude, and even though you are an airplane, you can't glide at all.
