Under rating threshold (show) Unique and fun. Extra levels or a harder mode would be good, or give an extra star for winning on hard with no enemies getting through. 5/5

Under rating threshold (show) 5 stars, great game. Alternating between waves and gather/build phases would help. Still, I love the mix of puzzle and TD. Fresh take on a stale genre.

Under rating threshold (show) This is proving to be a very entertaining game indeed. I like the combined elements of Tower Defense, RPG AND Gems, although the feature I think I like the most is the ability to pause the game in order to build my towers/equip my character so that everything isn't so overwhelming and all-at-once. Thank you! 5/5

Under rating threshold (show) Exploitable: On the first level, during the tutorial, when he told you to build tower/ equip etc, farm exp like crazy. it is also the best time to get the match 16/24 achievements. + so that the dev can see, or atleast other people so we can all get a head start on story mode.

Under rating threshold (show) having the hero fight himself is very nice. oh, and in most games i've played, adamant is better than mithril, so it's a little confusing.

Under rating threshold (show) Ah, I see what the problem was. The defense stat only takes into account the +defense bonuses, not the base stats of armor. Why is that?

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from Arkeus

Armor and defense are two separate things. It was probably not the best choice, as they both reduce damage, but one is an artifact of your hero's power and one is an artifact of your equipped items (and the stat display only shows your hero's power).

Under rating threshold (show) Got a bit of a glitch here. Had two chestpieces, one mythril and one adamantite. The adamantite chestpiece gave 39 base defense and a bonus of +41 defense (for a total of 80). The mythril gave 66 base defense with bonuses of +12 defense (for a total of 78) and +something to agility. The agility added just fine, but when I switched from the adamantite to the mythril, my defense should've gone down by 2, right? It went down by about 30. Switched back and forth to make sure, and I couldn't find any other reasons.

Under rating threshold (show) You can run multiple runs of easy stages at the higher chapters for the best gear before progressing to normal and hard for the later. Swift towers should not be over looked in later levels, though the sweep tower is still best for spreading stun and curse or slow. I do like using the swift tower for the curse or slow some times, but they can do great damage with blast as well. Normally just use swift/sweep/skybound for defenses and leave the rest up to the prince. Over all fun game 5/5 Things I would say to make it just a bit better. Make some rare treasures that carry over from map to map that increase certain things, like the prince's movement speed or swing speed, or perhaps whenever he gets a kill it adds to a certain resource.

Under rating threshold (show) Each resource location (Forest, Cave, etc.) should have its own separate grid, unaffected by the other grids. Each resource location should only yield one type of resource. As matches are made, the number of matchable tiles decreases, but slowly replenishes over time. Let the player manually switch between locations, instead of letting it happen automatically after a set period of time.

Under rating threshold (show) Up front I used a Sweep tower up front with Slow and Curse, a second Sweep next to or behind it with Blast and Flame, and a Skybound with dual Poisons, targeted against highest. Further along I set up another pair of Sweeps same as before, and then bunches of Swifts holding any Justice I may have, along with the remainder of my Stones. Tower strategy aside, I sometimes find myself wishing my hero would die more, as he seems to get preoccupied with groups and completely miss the breakaway threats. If he's still fighting the pack, I can strip his gear for a quick respawn, but it's a bit of an odd way to go about it.

Under rating threshold (show) That would be better if you can compare the items (etc you roll the mouse over the item in inventory and it shows the item's attributed + your equipped item's) and a pause mod where u watch inventory the game pauses. kinda fustrating multitasking watching items, make the puzzle and upgrading towers at the same time

Under rating threshold (show) Lol, and literally moments after I ask the question regarding how to get rid of items I see the little text that says shift + click to drop...I usually strive to not do dumb stuff like that, but hey, we can't all be winners I guess. Under rating threshold (show) I really very much feel like I must be missing something, cause I don't see anyone else complaining about this...is there some way to get rid of items you don't need? It takes, like, no time to get completely filled up with armor/weapons. I even played through the tutorial again in hopes that it had addressed that but I still didn't find anything about it. I feel like that would be a pretty obvious thing to overlook, but I'm never sure.

Developer response from Arkeus

Yep! Just shift click the items in your inventory to drop them (ie, destroy them) to free up inventory space. :) Perhaps it is worded badly in the item tooltip.

Under rating threshold (show) Tips: You only need a few sweep towers and put frost/curse stones in them (you can upgrade these last, they are only for the status effects). Usually I just make 1 long range tower and put 2 poisons in that since it has the highest damage and change its priority to highest hp monster (instead of default). Don't bother with peon towers (they suck later on). Stick swift towers near corners, use arrow towers for everything else. Upgrading is way more important than towers. Gems are also your friends and key in surviving hard mode, just don't stack too many stuns/curse/slow all in one place. Use space bar if you feel you can't multitask fast enough.

Under rating threshold (show) I like it. But part of the satisfaction in tower games for me is watching my towers do their work. Most of the time I was rushing to keep my resources stocked. I was missing all the fun of watching monsters get smashed. It was a change of pace, but it didn't really have the same satisfaction. Perhaps timed rounds of attack and resource gathering? It'd be nice to expand the puzzle section to be larger, so I could focus on that without squinting, then place my towers and see how my planning lasts that round. Maybe killing monsters sooner up the path gives you more time during the resource round?

+ - !

Developer response from Arkeus

I absolutely think that would make a great game! However, when making Glissaria my main goal was to make it fun for players who normally get bored with doing nothing while their towers attack in typical TD games, so it would go against that goal. But I hope that if I don't get a chance to make a game with phases like this, that someone will. :)

Under rating threshold (show) Still early in the game, but I already love it :) I happen too really like the graphics too. I love how you twisted a matching game into tower defense. I am playing it easy mode first. But I am looking forward to doing it all over again normal, and hard mode. 5/5 for making so different, yet so very tower defense.

Sep. 09, 2011

Under rating threshold (show) This is really solid and I love the old school sound and graphics. The pace still feels too fast to me, and it's hard to balance between dealing with the matching puzzle to gain resources and paying attention to what's happening on the TD side of things. Not sure how to fix that.... there was a DS game where it would alternate between a matching game and a platformer, but didn't do both at once, maybe look at how that was balanced? Even if you don't, kudos. Clever concept, well executed. Just feels like it needs some tweaking.

Under rating threshold (show) Fun game, impressive concept, although part of the fun from tower defense games comes from seeing your towers destroy the enemies. That's largely lost on the player, because you are continously focussing on matching the stones. Still, fun game! :) 5/5

Under rating threshold (show) I'm giving this 5 stars for the moment as it is good. One thing I would like to see is a separate gathering resources and tower defence. say 20-30 seconds to gather resources then the first wave then an extra 10-15 seconds to gather between each wave. ATM I'm gathering then pausing to place then back to gathering, don't get to see all the fun of the kills. Hard to strategise with my tunnel vision. It could also be a gather before the assault scenario. Use your resources wisely once you have gathered them. But 5/5 for something new.

Thanks! I've made some changes to slow down enemies overall, along with increasing the time between waves during the earlier parts of the chapters to help give you more time to build and strategize!
