Best way to win any battle in this game: Hang back in the trench, kill anyone that comes on over, and wait for their morale to reach Breaking Point. You get a badge, too.

Morale thing's a bit off - I lose a few men, our guys are "we surrender, mew mew mew" - I take the enemy's trench and kill each reinforcing wave, they say "it's only a flesh wound!"

For anyone having trouble on mission nine, deploy tanks only (three is the amount with which I won) and use support. Save gas for after you destroy the first German tank - your tank(s) will be fighting entrenched infantry.

I like this one better than 'Warfare: 1944' because you don't have to actually spend money and this one (In my opinion) has better graphics. That is why this one is my favourite.

To get a lot of enemy soldiers killed easily go to custom battle then pick short map, disable all unit types except MG, choose 2 trenches, 4 wire and no mines, set difficulty to easy, AI to aggressive and you play as Germany. Get 3 MG units and when a British attack fails take their trench and stay there. Fill your own trench with MG units in case you need to replace your men who are in the British trench.

Here is a pretty good tip for fighting against tanks; Wait until enemy tank is in position, use tank buster bombs then click on the menu/settings button. The bombs will continue to fall while enemy tank stands still. Hope this helps

I use this game every year when I teach my lesson on WW I trench warfare to my students. Sure it may not be that historically accurate but it does get the point across that there was a lot of casualties.

so sometimes my troops just go ghost mode and walk through half the battlefield, disappearing for a few seconds and reaching the end of the battlefield, winning the game.

in the last two missions - TANK TANK TANK TANK. Oh those guys! Just had to keep firing on them with mortars and such while my tank cleared the rest. The treads only slipped a little on the poop they left. Great game!

Issues; No pause button, stupid AI, no sense to the morality mechanic. Fix this stuff then try to make this fun. If it wasn't a badge of the day wouldn't have played for more than 30 seconds.

word of advice: just buy assault. Honestly they are the best units in the game. Since you are always trying to get to their side of the field, you will always have to attack trenches so their grenades are the best for that scenario. If you are fighting a tank, then the assault's grenade are the best for that (except for mortars/anti tank but you can upgrade those separately). Even in open field and trenches they do well considering how specialized they are. The easiest way to win this game is to bum rush the germans so that you gain as many trenches as possible before they get a chance to more up their troops. Assaults can take any introductory forces in trenches easily and can mostly defend themselves in trenches themselves (for as long as it takes for more troop reinforcements). In the end, it doesn't even matter if you spawn a tank at the last mission because they're tank will be easily destroyed by anti tank/mortar rounds so not spawning a tank will actually give you an advantage.

This game has no common sense in it's basic structure. How do guys (who now have all the trenches taken and leaving the enemy no where to hide just gonna surrender due to low morale? That's just stupid, the fact that you've lost a few comrades, and all but won the war thereby vindicating your fallen comrades just isn't quite good enough to boost morale. "Here men, we've got the enemy with their backs to the wall, ready to surrender, Let's just pointlessly give up now for no logical reason. Hoo-rah!"

Scratch my other comment, this game is practically unplayable at late stages if they touch your tank. Instant loss is unforgivable, I don't care if the upgrades exist to stop it, because an upgrade path shouldn't be mandatory.

Serious problem when you lose a tank. The enemy just instantly wins, even though you have them on the ropes, using assault troops while they're stuck in the last trench, and your guys just give up because a mine hit the tank.

Well, I really wanted to give this a chance but... it frustrated me a lot. It's a nicely put together strategy game, but it's unforgiving with randomly placed mines, inaccurate mortars (even after +50% accuracy), and a lack of hotkeys. I couldn't beat Mission 9 because I used the wrong upgrades and getting experience is tediously slow, so now I'll have to restart and pray I'll do better. It's decent, but just too frustrating to be enjoyable. 3/5
