It's sad that awesome games like this don't get rated high, but unoriginal tower games are the most highly rated games.

References I saw so far... The Map System = Metroid, The snail with the pea shooter = The old man in Zelda who gave the sword...
I've noticed some problems popping up with Flash keyboard controls in certain browsers since this game was published, like lag and such. If that was your problem, perhaps you could try another browser, such as Chrome? Or if you had stuck key combos, you could try setting custom controls (some keyboards lock out certain combinations of keys, and switching your keys can fix that). Of course, if you just don't like NES-style controls, then this game's not for you!

the space box is impossible without rapid fire. huh, I think I've got rapid fire already, lets try it. wins. finds rapid fire afterwards.
Please try setting your browser zoom to 100%! This game has a lot of influences, and I acknowledge most of them in various ways, but I'm afraid you didn't get far enough in the game to see that.

Great game! Addicting!
It starts kinda slow and not that interesting but there is a really nice progression throughout the game. I've been glued to it for 1h20min... Black levels are hard.

Great game, reminds me of good old days of playing Nintendo and Sega games. Thank you for Snailiad hope new parts or other funny arcade games will be made

OH! Forgotten though! In the options menu, you can set firing to 'toggle' ...this is PERFECT for the boss battles because once you start shooting, it'll never quit til you tell it to. This frees up your hands a bit (and every little bit helps) and, on my keyboard at least, using the arrow keys while pushing combinations of letters doesn't work well...only so many keystrokes goes through at one time. Toggle firing solves this problem.
I originally designed the game without "toggle". I added it so that a one-handed gamer could play. I'm glad to see other people like the feature, too! :-) The keyboard lockout thing is sad. You can customize the keys, but not everyone realizes that and unfortunately every keyboard has different sets of keys that lock out... Maybe I'll make "toggle" default to ON in my next game so fewer people get frustrated with stuff like that.

For the Boss Rush, I find that the best weapon for the 2nd and 3rd bosses is the boomerang (I actually use it for all first 3). For the second boss...it seems to take out the cannons on the ceiling more quickly and more or less curve right around the eyeballs on feet making it very easy to score hits as you move...and for the Time Block, it's VERY helpful because you spend most of your time running away...they swing back and do an excellent job of hitting. Also, since the have a smaller strike-zone than the rainbow wave, they're less likely to be completely cancelled out by the boss's protection.
For the Snails..don't forget that you can curl up into your shell and take no damage. For the small snail, this is useful when it shoots the rainbow-donut thingies at you...and for the larger snail, this is VERY useful when it goes to sleep, when it bounces around the room, and occasionally when it shoots out bullets in all directions. Good luck!

Lucky Boss rush, got it on first try AFTER i beat the first boss(for me the hardest).
Not sure why, but the first 2 bosses make more dmg, The Gravity Block boss was easy and Moon Snail was the same like in the regular Game, just you have less Hearths to beat him.

I see comparisons to Metroid, castlevania and megaman (all valid comparisons) but where's the comparison to Blaster Master? Wall climbing ROCKS.

@Dustin_S If this had support for something portable game consoles (with the X, the Y, and "Z"), we would have no problem playing this right now.

Another game where they have features locked unless you have completed the game. :l I completed this on another computer that I can't get to now and I don't want to have to complete the game again just for the 1 badge. >_>

2 years passed after release and there is only 3979 people awarded hard badge by completed boss rush. They should change to impossible badge and I effort two and half hours to complete game. That was so hard; not a medium. I couldn't complete boss rush but still nice game. 5/5

Nice game, I only played it for a few minutes, but I saw elements of Metroid and Mega Man =^-^=. My only real complaint is the screen flying up every time I jump, makes me dizzy. 3/5
