Game is made of solidified depression and, I am imagining, a 16-year-old game designer watching his 4-year-old cousin play Tetris.

IIX is right. The same thing happens with the 'S' and 'Z' blocks too, when they're horizontal (and you complete only one line).
What I can't work out is that because the intention is for the game to be hellish whether it's technically a bug or not ;)

There's a bug with how the L-shaped blocks dismantle when you make a line. If only a single square is left, it doesn't fall straight. It changes places. Highly confusing...

Worst game ever. Impossible to play, needs a reset button and menu button. 0/5, but i voted 1/5 cause i want a point... just... AWFUL

this game need badges. something like 'hard: 1 row' 'impossible: 10 rows'
its possible to get 1 row, I did it yesterday and today. 5/5

This is great. A year ago, XKCD caused YouTube to add the feature "Preview comment", and now, someone created the Hell Tetris clone. Thank you thank you thank you!

At least it's not as hard as "You have to burn the rope", how do you beat the boss on that game? Uh, anyway, 5/5 and fav'd this!

XKCD FTW etc etc and this is much more than just a game- i.e. Tetris is an extremely abstract look at tasks we do everyday (literally, by stacking things, figuratively, just the grind of doing your job (the better you do it, the more you get snowed under). Hell Tetris is, indeed, much less a metaphor than a representational simulation of how real life is. Its not neat and regular, its a bunch of pieces that don't really fit but have to be crammed together through compromise.

nice physics. could use some improvements, like title screen, music, power-ups, and something to differentiate it from simliar games (besides the rounded bottom).

@Selva, what do you mean no challenge, not funny, not fun?
The point of Hell is to be difficult, the joke is that you still need to make perfectly straight and aligned rows of blocks, and clearly you haven't experienced the exileration of triumph as you overcome the difficulties persented here and _triumph over adversity_. Esp since your nick doesn't appear in the highscore list w/ 1 point.
