Sorry I didn't really organize my first post, let me re-do that.
Starting Money - 1,600+
And having killed final boss's 1st form
1st wave -
Purchase Magnet/Loot +4
Purchase Ship Upgrade
Purchase Cannon +2
2nd wave -
Purchase +4 Cannon as soon as you can, if you need to purchase +3 first, go ahead, but sell it and buy +4 after you get enough gold to do so.
After boss appears purchase a ship upgrade, and a +3 flag if you have the gold to do so, if not buy it after killing the boss.
3rd wave -
After making it to the boss, sell off anything you won't need for the boss, and use your money wisely.
I purchased a ship upgrade
Sold the magnet
Bought +4 fire rate
Bought +3 Cannon

Here's a small guide that worked for me...after defeating the final boss's 1st form, and having a starting value of 1,600...first buy the loot/magnet +4, a ship upgrade, and weapon +2...this will ensure you get PLENTY of gold. After killing off the 1st boss you can either sell off you cannon and get +3, then sell the +3 ASAP for the +4, or just earn enough for the +4...next upgrade your ship again. I normally go for a flag by this point, +3 should be plenty of speed...after the boss gets there, you should have enough gold to sell off everything of yours and buy the best items for you, and possibly an extra upgrade as well if you got enough treasure chests. omg the picture that comes up when you click out of the game screen is the strangest, funniest and most unexpected thing I've seen in a flash game..fantastic game btw, would love a sequel down the track.

should be able to purchase repairs.........after beating ghost ship for the second time gold becomes worthless, especially when you are maxed lvl

2nd boss tip: Try to stay inside the circle of "deadly balls" without making contact with the middle of the submarine. Hope this helps

I can only give this two stars.
Liked:
-Autoaim
-Starting money increase
-Stalling for chests with level 1 attack and maxed loot
-No obvious "best" upgrade path
Disliked:
-Bullshit second boss (far harder than both of the last boss' forms)
Insane rarity of health to the point where if you get hit twice you'll NEVER recover it,
-Score being calculated purely by money gained.

@lexabinsr and others, it's not a glitch...click outside the screen, wait awhile and u will get 50 gold , and u will get the award for getting free money from lachhh the pirate

TO GET THE 30,000 BADGE:
1. Get your starting gold to at least 2000.
2. At the beginning of every run, buy chest 4, level 2 ship, and chest 3.
3. Move your ship in circles around the screen, grabbing chests whenever they spawn and avoiding damage.
4. After the first boss, you should have enough to buy level 3 ship. Buy it, then go for sails 4.
5. Repeat step 3 until final boss. Make sure you have max ship by then.
6. At final boss, sell your chests. Then buy cannons 2, 3, and 4, and pirate flag 4. (you should already have sails 4)

It would be nice if your current score was displayed, seeing that cash on hand is not the same as your current score. This made the hard badge a bit more difficult to track. I had to kill myself to find out what my true score was. At least it was 42k and not less than 30k.

lachhh the pirate is great! (start playing and while your ship is moving, without going to shop click off screen and wait extra gold too.)
