I can't figure out how to change the controls. It looks like you're supposed to use your left hand for wasd and thumb for space, and your right hand for your mouse and mouse button, but if you have a track pad you need your left hand for the mouse button.
Even turning on autofire would work. Not all the guns require you to stop firing at parts.

It's rated by time, damage taken, buildings destroyed, and enemy units destroyed. It also registers the time it takes you to complete each Mini-Boss.

There's a problem with the "Pyrotechnics Medal".
I completed sevreal missions and side-missions using only shouder weapons, but I still didn't receive it.

does completing all side missions (medal) mean gold stars for each and every one of them? bc i did complete them all, missing only a few golds. and again, does reaching wave X on survival (another medal) mean completion of wave X? for ex; i reached wave 20, died before 21 and failed to get the medal.

Tips for people looking for stars: In general, it's usually some combination of taking little/no damage, finishing in a certain time, destroying all enemies, and destroying all buildings. Look at the objective in each side mission; whatever's NOT part of the mission itself is likely one of the requirements for a star.

It seems some of the side missions give 3 stars if you kill all the enemies. This didn't work for all of them though.

You need 60/72 Medals. But some are a bit ridiculous. I recommend stages 1 and 3 for a couple hardcore badges. Definitely use the shield on hardcore. Obviously, stage one is a cakewalk. In stage 3 you can use your shield and dash straight to the mini boss with spider legs... defeat him, and you're good to go until the boss. The shield makes boss 3 a cakewalk though. I recommend the rocket launcher. It always wins...

Some stars seems to be almost ungainable... maybe this is to persuade people to buy stuff for real money? I don't like this kind of games :(

For the Side Quests, I found it very helpful to equip the Next Gen Radar as the special component then just kill all the red bloops on the map. I have gotten at least silver on all the side quest so far

I got the 100 badge, the 500 kill badge and I still didnt get tusks. The same happened yesterday with the badge. What?

What the rank is? I tried to end mission quickly, I completed it without single damage, I tried to over-kill enemies by standing near barracks for almost 5 minutes... and I always get 0-2 stars. What do I need to do to get 3 of them? I have no idea what this rank is :( :(

Whoever rated down the last comments for trollz fun should be slapped with a turkey on the face. Anyway, finished the game and im not gonna get the hard badge...way too long! Still was enjoyable but not has munch as mc2 burning skies.
