A fantastic game. the music backing was so haunting and dragged me into the story even more. just the right amount of humour as well! great job
Ah, I see. That happened because you probably double-clicked. Anyway, you can escape. Just above the mute button is the back button. But it is invisible. It will still work, it's there, just click a couple of millimetres above the mute button. This may be a problem when you click secrets and memories, too. The solution is the same.

It was great! Loved how there was a meaning to it and the sketches and artwork. It's simple yet deep. Found the evil wizzard hilarious and everything just great! Squirrels high on mushrooms....

Not to nitpick, but in the intro text it mentions a "beautiful cacophony of color". The word you want is euphony, cacophony means unpleasant.
But great game!

Just out curiosity, is the first character named Tom after two of Tiziano Sclavi's books, "Le etichette delle camicie" and "Non Ú successo niente"? Since he looks like Dylan Dog I guessed there could be a further reference to its creator ^^

that was a very beautiful game, i really enjoyed it. it must have been tough drawing all the art by hand, im impressed. and the story was great, the puzzles were challenging, but not too hard (though getting the startdust i admit i needed the hint book). in response to one of the other comments, i too would love to see more of that world, is there any chance you might expand upon this story? personally, being a sucker for romance, would love to play the story of the ice queen. all in all, 5/5, favorited. i absolutely loved it

Can't reply to my earlier post, but I thought I'd correct my link with the direct link to the pdf.

For some odd reason, when I load the game up the window it opens looks to be about an inch too small on the bottom and the right side.

I really love this game! You did a wonderful job! On a side note, I really liked that there is a pdf version of the storyline available to read in just print. (Which I found here: http://jayisgames.com/archives/2013/03/the_grey_rainbow.php) I was a bit sad that there wasn't a pdf of the comic style scenes from the game though (albeit I didn't look too hard), so I've been piecing one together from screenshots of the game so I can go back and reread it now that I have the badges and am no longer in a rush.

3/5 Liked the story, but choosing to tell it through a game was a bad choice, IMO. Games are supposed to be more than a click through slideshow.

Note: there's no way to actually mess up on desert to the point you have to reload the game, all stuff there can be made white again by using it at the lake near the bettle, that also fixes the staff in case you've broken it.

Not to be TOO annoying, but technically the disease thing is a simile, not a metaphor, because the comparison is made with the word 'as'. Okay, I'm gone, amazing game, though.

This graphic style is appropriate for toddler coloring books but not for video games. I hope you consider updating the graphics to something more palatable when you realize the low score is entirely due to the lackluster visual presentation.
I am aware of that, probably more than anyone. I am painfully aware that that, and the amount of dialogue, is what keeps 20% of the people away and giving the game bad marks. However one of the main themes of TGR is not taking things at face value. If something looks childish, don't pre-judge it for being superficial. And don't underestimate you inner child. It is when a person opens up to all possibilities, that he/she understands the game.

Entertaining story, the Lady made me feel remorse about sacrificing the rat, and i realy felt guilty caging the Phoenix. Liked the subtle references to Bugs Bunny and Peter Pan, was Worf a reference to Star Trek?...did i miss any more? Anyway if you want to polish this game i have a few small points: sometimes the text on top was a little wider then the actual screen and i have seen (at least) two typos in the answers you can select in dialogue 1- when in Happytown talking with the adventurer about his lost girl in front of his house 2- when talking to the Lady after returning the Phoenix two her. Both replies seem to have an extra 'L' at start of the sentence. Then when returning to Happytown after getting the seed from the tree of death the first and second reply-sentence when talking with the adventurer starts with L too. I know its sounds like nitpicking but i just feel like you should fix these small things in an otherwise beautiful game. 5/5
No, Worf isn't a reference, at least not intentional. It just sounded cool :) And about the typos - they're not typos! It's the letter 'I' followed by ... :D

The only annoying part is that it seems in desert if you screw up, the only intuitive way to recover was to close the game, continue, and do everything all over again from last continue point. Was there an easier way of reloading?

"A dwarf, albeit a strangely tall one." Simon?! Instead of "That's a good rope you've got there", the dialogue option ought to have been "That's a very nice rope you've got there..." :P

responce to italiaanaa
the reason this game has low ratings is because
people dont have the patience to get through the long start
anyway i did and 5/5 awesome

The art is a great start, well designed and balanced, but it looks like a rough draft. Please get someone to do a final draft from these sketches. You will have a beautiful game!
