a picture game, by women for women, super suck, boring, kissing in the first few minutes, being totally ok with helping rainbow people who kidnapped you, nothing makes sense, because it sucks : D and fyi, i am 21 years old, not a kid who hates cooties, this game is just horrible, most of it is just forced clicking, with no varying outcome. "follow the sparkley line fable" type of thing.

I really liked your game. There was real substance to it, with an inspiring message about not giving up on your life, understanding that you can ask for/give others help sometimes and how it's important to step back from everything once and awhile and think about where you are. I really enjoyed the artwork because it looked so personal and original. The music really added to the ambiance and set the tone for the story. Well done!
Thanks. The way I see it, people can enjoy the game on many levels. For some, it is a fun adventure game with good puzzles. For some it a good story. For some, the best parts are the different philosophies present in different characters. For others, it is the characters themselves - each has their own life and has their own stories. Others can enjoy the humour, whilst others the music. Others still, will enjoy the feel-good message and atmosphere. There's something for everyone ;)

This reminds me of The Never Ending Story. The book more so then the movie. The music is perfect, really sets the tone of the game.
I have never read Neverending Story. If there is one book than can be considered an inspiration (in fact there are several, but this one most prominently) it's Replay by Ken Grimwood.

I cried so much... This is refreshing and beautiful. It gave me answers I had and is just... My favourite game now. :')
It's an homage. That's what happens when you make your own character, but make him look like someone you like out of coolness and respect. And it's Pratchett with two ts.

This game seems to be an inadvertent commentary on the much-discussed lack of ethnic diversity in the characters of modern fantasy games and literature, built upon the disturbing racist foundations of Tolkien, Baum, Lewis, Michael Ende, etc. (by being a paradigm exemplar of the problem).
How dull, bland, and disappointing things are without color indeed!
For their display of sleazy prejudice in idealizing and all-Caucasian dreamworld I feel that the developers are better deserving of working in the world of "Beyond the Black Rainbow", or perhaps "Gravity's Rainbow" than any further "Grey Rainbow" pieces (ie paranoid and horrific destruction). 0 stars. I advise anyone reading this comment not to play.

Fantastic. Having recently become a fan of Phoenix Wright, I am very used to reading text(I'm also a fast reader...)and the hand-drawn graphics are simply stunning. Just a few minutes in, I started to relate to the Detective. The story, while treading vaguely inside convention, is still unique and the soundtrack is perfect. 5/5!

Short and simple, a sweet dream that lasted only a heartbeat, but will stay in my memory for much longer, ever asking the question - "how can we bring more colour into this fading world?"

What is up with the creepy lady, not even giving a straight answer???
The moment I saw her I knew she was suspicious...
It's not really her fault. Her understanding is very different from our own, considering what she is, so she takes for granted certain things that the main character can't yet cope with.

Aw, well that was nice and made me feel slightly fuzzy on the inside. Yes, chances are by a few hours from now I will have sunken back into my usual cynical fog, but hey, every little thing pushes you slightly in one direction or the other, so every positive influence helps. Me and Mr. wizard can be each other's wingman, by the way.

Lady, women dream of me all the damn time, that doesn't mean you can just go kidnapping me at will. I'm not just a walking set of broad shoulders and a scruffy square jawline created for your amusement you know. I'm sick of females objectifying us men, treating us like our lives revolve around you all. Us men are people too, we have rights damn it!

"We still have things to do, and it will be both taxing and confusing to you. Now, give me the bird." Oh, if only the game would let me, I would gladly give you the bird, lady. I would give it so hard.

I play games because they are fun, and are the only way to get away from the world I hate, but there are just the few things I see, whether it be in a book, game, or just about anything, that reminds me that one day, the world will be a better place again...

I'm a fan of the art of the game, so I clicked through a bit after getting bored of the dialogue/text... Not to say it was bad, just not my particular favorite style. Just wanted to say that I enjoyed the little art that I saw, and I like that it's kind of an interactive screenplay/storyboard. I'd give you a 3.5, but since I can't I have to go 3/5. Good luck on any future projects!

Truly amazing game. Since I'm a sucker for point and click adventures, playing this was a no-brainer, but a game that is as captivating as this only comes once in a while. I deeply wish i could award it with more than 5/5.
Well done.

That was lovely. At first I assumed it to be a fairly simplistic story. I'm glad I was wrong. Thank you for sharing this game.
Never, sorry. The deal with myself was - just this one game. I wanted it to feel like real adventure game, with one good, full story. Quality over quantity wins any day, in my book. Not to say I won't do other games. I will. But no more Grey Rainbow games.

very deep story.. and amazing music.. very emotional. however wrote this deserves a medal.. and some cake.. after finishing the game, it made me feel all squishy inside, in a good way htough.. i would love to be able to see your "Letters from beyond the rainbow".. this is truly epic.. easily a 5/5.. and also if you drew those pictures, they're very good.. perhaps a link to the music would be nice. i love the smooth calm feel to the song.. as if the wind was blowing.. in my heart.. ^.^ i look forward to your future works whether they be games or novels because the story you wrote is amazing.
Hey!
There's a link to the whole soundtrack in the game description ;)
And actually, the chapter 4 and menu music is called When the Wind Blows, so you weren't wrong at all!

I have a big appreciation for games like this. My friend and I often design games like point and click games on paper (puzzle adventures). To see one on an actual game sight is cool. Good job!
Ahh no, sorry, just the one! No sequels, ever, that was what I had decided when I first started the game. I want the game to feel like a real adventure, not like most other, 'casual' games that can have countless sequels.

It's so great to see all this wonderful comments! Sice I ddiscovered Kongregate 4 years ago I wanted to publish a game here, and when we finally made The Gray Rainbow I was anxious of the reception we'd receive on Kongregate. You guys made me feel great! Thank you very very much!

I set only a Hand full of Games to my Favourites, but THIS Game, even though it should be played once, deserved to get faved. It was a deep game with the perfect Message at the best time. I started to get a little bit depressive over here in Germany. We still got Snow and everything is just white, grey(clouds) and black(people dressed all the same). It just feels like the beginning of this Game. That story really touched me. 5/5 and faved.

Hmm, that Hint Book is rather full of itself. "I am a very smart book", indeed....... Oh wait, it actually DOES know everything, nevermind. Lol.

A hand-drawn game? Cool! :) I started to develop a hand-painted story game awhile ago myself....and never finished it :P My excuse is that i was using Stencyl XD
