General approval of the many, many easter eggs, which gave me many a chuckle while I was playing. I thought the simplicity of the crayon drawings were perfect for this glimpse into another possible world. I don't agree with those who say the art should be better, as I think this depicts our inner child quite succinctly, and we all need one of those. ;oD And though part of me would have loved a continuation, I love the fact that since I played I've been telling myself stories in my head based around these characters and this world. Serious kudos to Black Olive Games.
Also, I want to try some of the old man's "strange green tobacco". xD
Ahh yes, the mysterious green tobacco. I think this is the first time someone mentioned it. Good catch ;) Glad you enjoyed it, and although it breaks my heart not to make a sequel after comments like this, I think the story ended just where it was supposed to.
Thanks. My philosophy is that the best games are the ones that can be called 'an experience'. Where you can immerse yourself in whatever world you are in, live it and suspend your disbelief until the very end. There's a very big difference between games that "feel like games" and games that "feel like an experience".

This game is truely inspiring. I love the story. Thank you so much for this game. I almost wish that I would have dreams like this game. I hope it will be a sequel. For me this is a game that I have to rate 5/5 stars.

Waiting didn't work for me. Anyway i solved using left click + configuration, then after 2 o 3 secs the screen loaded, i was able to play the game, thanks for the answer. Great game btw :D

The graphics are a bit for children...but I know that you tried your best to draw those pictures.I knok that it's not that easy. You did a great job but it was boring for me after about 30 minutes.

I am having a bug with both chrome and firefox. When i press start game, i just see a gray window, when i click it fade to black and gray again. I can't enjoy the story
I don't think it's a bug with Firefox or Chrome, since the game usually works normally. I did, however, have one case that seems similar to yours. I click start story, and I get a grey screen. It's something to do with the computer I was playing with. I just wait a couple of seconds though, and the game starts after the grey screen. Don't know what caused this.

At first, I thought this game would be some sort of artsy-fartsy narrative, which... well, it was. But it also proved more humorous and even touching than I expected.

I'm a hopeless romantic. I loved the ending. Couldn't help but envision the seed from the tree of death maturing into a skittles yielding savior for the rainbow. Oh well, happy thoughts. Thanks!

Great game. I am sincerely hoping the unexplored regions hint at possible sequels. I've always been pretty terrible at Litt, but did I detect some foreshadowing by the name Scarlet and a Queen who's lost her flame??

The small text is really frustrating, increasing the page size doesn't affect it's size. Any way you can fix this please? I'm only in the beginning but so far this seems like a heavily text based game.
Ahh no, that wasn't a reference, at least not intentional. Now that you mention it, I do remember some of the dwarves introducing themselves like that.

Me: "I was being bullied, so I told my parents!"
'Evil Wizzard: "Soooooo evil, it scares me!"
Actual Me: What's so evil about that?

Interesting, but sometimes the character's faces change so drastically I thought you were trolling us lol. Kinda funny though. Anyway enjoyed the game.

I found the Labyrinthine forest quite annoying, but that's because it took me two hours to find the squirrel. Loved the game, but that part killed it for me. 3/5, should be 5/5.
The forest should have been relatively easy. The squirrel is not obvious, but it can be found. Are you sure your desktop colours/brightness are set-up correctly?

i love how you wrote the story of how the game was made in the "secret", and i personally prefer this kind of philosophy games over action games, sadly its hard to find some which are as good as this one 5/5
i have just replayed the game, and when i get to the old mans story.... its so... sad? but good? its so true...

So I restarted the game and made it to the Tree of Death again. I'm happy to report that the bug didn't surface again and I was able to complete the game!

I usually do not like these types of games, but this one captivated me. By hand drawing all of the images in the game, it showed all the work and thought put into it. The story was also good and kept me playing through the whole game.

beautiful story and art! on a site where we're so used to mindless arcade-type game play and sleek graphics its always refreshing to find a, quite-literally, hand-crafted gem like this. the ideas within may not appeal to everyone. regardless, you cant help but appreciate the earnestness and conviction w/ which the ideas are put forth. the devs rank up there w/ jonaskyratzes and scriptwleder for their pieces of interactive art. great job guys, hoping theres more!

I found it funny that the rabbit is named Zec the rabbit, as 'zec' means 'rabbit' in Serbian, so I understood it as 'rabbit the rabbit' xD
To be more precise, 'zec' is hare and rabbit is 'kunić'. So, hare the rabbit ;) A i Duško Dugouško ima cameo u Zecovom dijalogu, ako se dobro pazi :D

Hey guys/gals! Someone on NG asked some questions about the backstory of the world and the game. Nothing much, but I thought I should re-post my answers here for anyone interested.
"We know about the old man, but where did his friends go? Did they die in happytown with their families?"-His friends are all dead. I won't say how, why or when, though...
"What does the inside of the wizard's tower look like?"-At first there was supposed to be a scene inside the tower, but I cut it out early on, for pacing purposes. It was important for the puzzles to feel organic, instead of 'new screen-another puzzle'.
"Are there other towns?"-of course there are. Big and small. There used to be a colossal city in the desert with the phoenix, but now there are only ruins. There's a whole world out there. We see only one very small part of it.
"Did the dwarf ever manage to make something of himself?"-I don't know what he'll do next, but he definitely didn't, and won't, climb the mountain.
Cheers!

Oh my gosh! It was brilliant. Fantastic. Thank you for the great story, for the experience. :) I'm just fangirling around because of the game. Thank you again! 5/5

''A potion that makes you think you're funny, even though you're not.'' So THAT'S what my friends were drinking! Ahhh, it all becomes clear...

If u want to read the whole story here is the link http://www.blackolivegames.com/games/thegreyrainbow.pdf
, thought I recommend first playing the game to have a better understanding of what is going to happen

Okay, so I talk to the Tree of Death, and then I lose the ability to click? What the hell?
I've reloaded several times and it happens each time. I'm running Firefox on Windows, if that matters.
Hmm, this is the first time I've heard about this problem. What's weird is that there is no chapter change after the Tree, all you get is the seed in your inventory. Off the top of my head, you can try enabling all the cookies in you browser and maybe disabling max security (if you have it on) in your browser.

I got into certain aspects of this story - particularly the ones where the dialogue was shorter. Although I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks the story of this game isn't in proportion to the gameplay. It should balance out. :/ If I want to read a book, I have a few on my shelf I'd rather read.

I have to admit... Once i heard the Old Man's tale, after whe found the pool, i actually bec ame quite sad. Amazing, beatfull, sad history, i may wonder if it is from your life, or from someone you ever met.

I adore all the reasons it gives for why you can't combine two items, or cut a stick. Little things like that just make this an even better game.
I really like the Beavis and Butthead nod when you try to use something with the rainbow cage ;) And the one you get when you use something with the forest in the very first scene.
