Excellent game. We need more like these in Kongregate, IMO... The cool graphics, the catchy music, the good gameplay... 5/5.
Regarding the difficulty, I'd say it's the same for most games: the more you play, the easier it becomes... A piece of advice: try to reach the last boss (Wadolf) with a lot of "food" available, and then eat it at once (because his zombies can eat it too); then use all of your bombs against Wadolf (the bombs will hurt him a lot). And... that's it. Good Luck :)

i beat the final boss in portal defender!, hip hip herray!
now if anyone wants to beat the last boss, this is how i did it (i was Tom Fulp),
1) do what ever it take to survive until you get to the slot machine, (that where
2) now about the final boss, do as much combo attack as u can do to him, if he flees and summons his minions, IGNORE THEM, they will just be a burden to handle, when the boss is ready to kill u will his death beam, get his minions to follow u and get behind u. at the last second dodge the beam thus trapping his minions and killing them quickly, (this is the easiest way to kill them.)
3) repeat this process until kill him (i kill him will barely no health at all)
(A BIT OF ADVICE, HE WILL NOT DIE QUICKLY THIS GIVING HIS MINONS A CHANCE TO KILL U) so dodge the until the boss completely is dead!!!

I really like this game, though I still have a little bit of a problem with games that are Newgrounds based yet somehow still make it to other sites. The game isn't too hard, as I'm usually able to get Wadolf down to at least a quarter of his health left before i die, you just have to know when to attack and how to dodge each projectile plus the combination to the chest (king of the portal, turd of the week, weekly user's choice), and then the rest is just up to the skill of the player. I really dislike killing Jmtb02, though. He's my favorite Flash game creator ever.

This game is pretty good. Needs a continue and a shop and upgradeable. With those things added, it would be a very good game. To have to start all the way back at the beginning again, only brings back the part of OLD games from Nintendo

Since I managed to get the Juggler Badge before I got the Big Fuzzy Hug Badge I can certainly say the first level at least is not that difficult. My complaint is I didn't find the game interesting enough to play it further once I got the Badge of the Day.

Almost no health item and everything have more range than you AND spam ranged attack while you struggle with a crappy low range/damage weapon.

This game... Is actually very good! And i dont think this is hard at all... I think its Balanced.
Usually games are Beaten in like 5 mins, and it just takes time, But this game Offers atleast Some kind of a Challenge. I dont know what people are doing in Kongregate if they dont get atleast the 3 First badges... I just wish, Wish, I could get me a Dam Banhammer... That would Show em'...

Complaining about difficulty is valid when enemies spam you to death with attacks before you can even get up and barely ever drop health boosts... There's also the issue of only being able to attack near-range and bosses simply attacking you while you attempt to keep them flinching, which always fails because they have 0 delay in attack movement. Then there's their range which is too large, considering they attack in groups and stand around you while you can only attack 1 enemy at a time. There's difficulty and there's luck, this game features little difficulty and lots of luck.

Easiest way to win:
1-Choose Dan Paladin
2-Put all enemies togheter
3-Keep jumping through them, (they will kill themseves)
4-When theres just 1 enemy left go combo him to hell
5-Also, when a boss use a attack with target, try to put the target over him
6-Tip for Second last boss, kill first the guy who shot "hadoukens", by avoiding his attacks and comboing him, while avoid the bubble gums as well
(they trap you for some seconds)
7-Use all bombs you have on last boss

Game needs inventory to buy and sell weapons and specials like bombs,lasers etc .. and upgrade option for weapons and specials. and also increase character skills . + thx comment
