The combination of the finite lives and a game that has quite a bit of trial and error for the majority of players is an awful combination. This game is a perfect demonstration of not understanding your audience and basic game design.

A lot of people are complaining about the lives system and the fact that no tool instructions were given, but the point of this game was for nearly everything to be intuitive. You use something or see something, Figure out or Assume how it works, then go with your game plan.

This is pretty much work in progress. Hardly any info, especially that using one of the tools, you can destroy the ball. No info on new tools. No warning about the 'lives' system (seriously?!). It's 3/5 for an game that has a 5/5 potential.

I found it very rare to have a ball destroyed. It only happens if you over-inflate or hallow it at the wrong time. Otherwise, just repaint and start again. It's an easy game if you pay attention. I beat it on the first try (though on my final ball).

I'm not fond of criticizing other people work or creators or Kongregate!
But this game doesn't deserve 1/5 + doesn't deserve Kongpanion week award. For starters, I've played most of Factory Balls game versions and all of them are great. But this one is "work-in-progress" version. And I don't see how it belongs to Kongpanion promotional games. It's actually unpromotional.
It's Christmas soon, place http://www.kongregate.com/games/bontegames/factory-balls-the-christmas-edition?acomplete=factoy+balls for the week award. Game itself is bad. Life system is great if you know how many levels there is versus how many balls. Some pictures of characters don't match the ball you CAN create. And I've noticed some bugs on tools - I place ball on No.3 it uses No. 4 tool. And then I have to lose balls. No restart game button, even after you finish the game. So: many bugs, work in progress game that helped evolve other series, but by itself - ungame.
And btw

Though the lives system is annoying, you have to remember this is the first in the series. And yes, the later games allowed you to recycle balls if you made stupid (or not so stupid) mistakes.

I don't see the point of a limited number of balls except to make players start all over from the beginning repeatedly.

The lives system only stops me from experimenting. It also made my little sis lose interest around the second/third time she had to restart. Which is a shame seen as she really enjoyed the other ones.

For those wondering, the last line after completion is Dutch (or more Belgic) and roughly translates to 'See ya, and good luck!"

Recycling got a new definition in this game xD Anyway I wanted to try out the first game and it's good, I like the physics and the thinking about it,.. gotta try the other ones too! :)

I played 4 first so I didn't realize I was losing the balls! Still fun but I hated having to drag the ball each time instead of just clicking. 4 spoiled me!
