Description
This is a demonstration game, part of a series I'm writing wherein I take a game concept from design through several stages of prototypes. You can read the series here: http://blog.brentknowles.com/2014/09/05/version0part1/
This is the very latest prototype but still very much unfinished. Would love to hear your feedback and suggestions.
CORE GAMEPLAY
- The player is attempting to collect more energy than the AI by grabbing it from energy orbs and depositing it in their home port.
- As the player collects energy their star-trail grows longer. This is both a tactical advantage and a disadvantage. The longer the tail the more points are scored when the player delivers energy to their port.
OTHER NOTES
- The game may also be played with up to three other players (game is also controller enabled -- though tested only on XBox360 Controllers attached to a PC).
- The Classic mode just allows players to smash into each other.
- Art & Sound are all placeholder, though may not be replaced with anything else given that this is intended only as a prototype.
- This is my first upload to this site so please let me know if I could make the integration better. Thanks!
How to Play
Arrows to move. Spacebar to activate special abilities collected from power-ups.
Two Game Types
Hauler - Attempt to draw energy from purply energy source and move it to the port the same color as your ship
Classic - Just smash into the enemy

Second player can now use WSAD keys, if this option is selected from main screen. Otherwise defaults to 1 player + AI

For those curious, this is a prototype and I am hosting discussions on how the prototype was put together.
The latest discusses how a dice game influenced the direction of the prototype!

4-player controller support (same machine) should also work (that's actually the intended play style for this. The AI is very much inprogress... i.e., sucky) prototype

As noted in the description this game is intended to accompany a series of blog posts on prototyping. To read the (inprogress) series: http://blog.brentknowles.com/2014/09/05/version0part1/
