As far as not-really-free MMO games go, this one is the best I have played in a while. I don't feel like I am just getting killed by people who have way to much money to spend. I can play the game and access most the features needed for adequate game play. Finally, the game never comes straight out and asks for money. True, it is taking a while to just grind it out, but that ends up just being an issue of game play instead of financials.

If I select "don't remind me again" for my inventory being full, why am I constantly told on each consecutive item pick up that it is full? This is very annoying.

one of the best differences between this game and other games of this type is that it does not take 6 hours to recruit 300 archers! the dungeons are also a nice change.

This game's awful. The character designs presume that any guy playing it will automatically submit to the ever-looming breasts of elven women. That's not how making a game works, guys. Not only that? But really? You seriously think charging ingame currency for skipping CUTSCENES is a good idea?! NOPE NO NOPE THANKS NO NO WAY STOP IT

Modifying the game this late to use Real Currency just for basic crafting is a scam. Lose the shit or you'll lose players.

If you've lost your character, check that you're on the right server. They added a new one recently and all the old ones have moved position.

The enforced pvp is a pain in the a... erm... back, but aside from that, it looks promising. Gameplay could be a bit more tactical and less grindy though.

The fights get sooooooo tedious, the towers/dungeons are an arduous task to get through all three floors. Decent xp/loot, but to have to start a fight and go do three others things waiting for it to finish is just silly. Zero control of your units after starting the fight also leaves a lot to be desired, why exactly are my mages and archers -not- hitting that one mage/archer of theirs that's picking off my horsies? /sadface!

I hate these MMOs that get badges probably even more than the next guy. Honestly though guys, the game wouldn't even get badges if the rating was lower. Don't rate MMOs high enough and Kong won't have the opportunity to badge them.

They seem to open a new server as soon as the cash flow from the previous server slows. Perhaps all they want is to get a quick shot of dollars, and turn to new servers when that money dries up from frustrated players. I really hope this game gets its act together, because it has amazing potential and does a lot of things right. I hope this is informative, and helps you decide whether or not to spend money on this game. My conclusion: Play It! But, DO NOT SPEND MONEY ON IT!... Not yet at least, unless you want to encourage this kind of monetary incentive games coding. Show developers that we are willing to PAY for a good game, but it needs to be polished. Once people sink actual dollars into a game, developers have a much bigger obligation to come through with the simple things that makes a game playable and enjoyable.

Since most of you players don't see the reason behind cut-scenes let me explain.
Power-Level, yes simple as that. Without those cut scenes players could get to high levels very fast. In addition to that you wouldn't be able to have enough troops because they take time to restore ( buyable ones ), even more to that, if you don't want to spend gold on other stuff, get high level and earn it through the game. Simple as that
And without lowering prices there are ENOUGH buyers, believe me.
Also Kongregate is just a family web-site. The servers are not located on kongregate, this game itself has nothing to do with kongregate besides partner-ship relating to Kredz/Gold and game being available on this site as well.

I started this game, and I love it. It combines good aspects of multiple games: tactical combat, RPGs, town building, and of course (as every person has thus far quoted) boobs. What else could it need?

After some hours on this, I have to say I am very positively surprised. Fine graphics, finely designed L.O.T.R.-inspired world, LOTS of quests, maps, items, enemies, dungeons, a complex system of crafting, ingame trading, alliances, cooperative battles (THAT is awsome), etc... Also, there's gold for premium content but you can live without it. And unlike in games like Travian (where you can't be absent otherwise you'll be razed to the ground), you don't have to leave a garrison home for the butcher and plunderers can't destroy our castle (very dissuasive to continue playing). On the downside, fights are very repetitive and tedious. Very good on the whole!

Everybody should really stop saying that money is needed for gold. You can get gold without paying a single dime unless you CHOOSE to. And if you aren't going to play the game just DON'T.
