I have a problem with the game. When I started a new one, I got a black screen. If I clicked outside the game, I can see the world that the author intended. But I can't do anything with it. I reloaded the game twice. Any help?

The game dev on Kalevala (Nov 2014): http://chainedlupine.com/8-articles/6-lok-post-mortem ''I've been quite pleased with Legend of Kalevala. It is my first major Flash game after a very lengthy lapse of working on games. (My last full-sized game was retro-styled shmup, released back in 2006.) While it's not the largest project I have worked on, it has turned out to be the most successful. I will document how the game was created, the initial jam version of LoK, discuss internals and bug-testing and finally how the game was affected by online piracy.''

wow.... It took me quite some time to figure out how to go back from the end game to collect songs after beating the game and finding only three naturally, please add into instructions ESC also has a "Go to Start" button after trying to pass the acid pit at least for a hour straight, also knowing the game had an auto save it made ESC a very out of path button in most scenarios past inventory. 5/5 for the story, please continue for it's sequel!

Ok, so I have the glide, and I flipped the mystery switch in the mountain, now where do I go? I have revisited every place, and I can't quite figure out where I am supposed to be. I get the feeling the answer is obvious once you've found it... but I can't! And I want to so badly...

This game was amazing. Multiple endings, non lineal game play, unique interesting story and a unique character. You said it was pure joy working on it. I say it was pure joy playing with it.

"Fun fact: A number of people asked what exactly is the thing you control. The only answer I could come up with is a purple metallic pterodactylgreyhound mix." That has got to be the funniest thing in this game.

it has been WAY to long since they have featured a game of this quality. now its just staler and staler sequels and money grubbing games, whats happened to kong? :(

Urgh, I decided to replay this after so long, and found a bug. There are 3 crystal podiums? I got all three of them and it says not all 3 are active.

By far, one of the best games I've played on Kongregate. Awesome plot, very good gameplay, and it was all done in a very short amount of time. Can't congratulate the maker enough =)!

This was an absolutely fantastic game. Interesting and fun. I actually found myself reading the flavor text, something a lot of games on here don't make me do.

Alright, found everything, didn't get all in-game achieves but meh. The only thing that I didn't like, was the fact that I couldn't shoot while jumping ... many times those floating globes of pain kept firing from out of range and I couldn't shoot them down so I could properly attempt to explore for more secrets.

I like it quite a bit, but I just have one question...towards the end, just before the final boss where it says whether or not you have all the health power ups and that you should consider going back and finding them?...are you sure you made it possible to go back and get them? I realize there's portal back to the area before the boss, but when I start getting into the level about 3 floor up there's a room with some red and green force fields and lava that instantly kills you on the floor, and with the configuration of the room, I kinda ended up just giving up around the 8th time I had to make it there and die cause the red thing dragged me into the lava and there's almost no room to maneuver when going back through the level as opposed to going forward. If, in fact, I'm not just crazy and it is really impossible, or borderline so, to get back through that area, then it would probably kind of put a damper on that whole going back and collecting items thing.

@colo111 you have to hit the bombs that the ship drops with yourself before they land and explode. try to bump the bombs with your face. (lol i know but it works) if they hit the ship it will make it fall and you can hit it with quills but it will go back up. do this until l it falls and explodes.

Thank you for this game!!! I've played it at least three times because it is so good.(I just finished speed running it in 37 minutes with the good ending.) I am happy to hear that you are making Legacy of Kalevala, and I hope to be able to play that many times as well. Thank you for everything you have done. :)

@Glasnerven If you ever play this game again, know that there are four crystal podiums to get the good end, and the last one is hidden in a really hard to find place. *Hint* Get rid of your platforming game preconceptions.

Could you please add a just "Save" button? I really don't want to exit whenever i want to save. Could you also add a way to change controls? Why the random x and c?

@Nighthawk30 Thanks, but I think I did have a bug. The text box never came up to initiate the battle. I tried reloading and continuing, and it had the same problem. However, after a few days I tried again and it worked. So I'm all good now.
Managed to beat the boss with only 3 health bars, too.

just a warning i noticed a problem where the second boss fight won't start, if you save and quit then continue and that sorted it out for me should it should work if the problem emerges for anyone else (skips dialog unfortunatly but its better than nothing)

True storytelling. Controls, game speed and difficulty are great. Graphics and sound are fitting. You've created a masterpiece.

Peeteriz. Even if you activated all of the crystals before you get to that crystal behind the running shield. You can walk up to the double sealed wall that is supposed to open and it will open if you had done the crystals prior to this point. :)
I think the confusion comes from the fact that in prior versions, the door used to open once you entered the level. Now it waits for you to walk up to it before it will check to see if you have all three crystals. This was necessary because in some circumstances, the earlier method might miss that you had all crystals. (I won't go into the technical why because it requires me explaining about database concepts such as transactions and rollbacks. ;))

awesome game. period. 5/5 and Favorited. It has everything.... diverse enemies, upgrades ( that you don't have to grind cash to buy), sweet pixelated graphics, easy controls, interesting places to explore, and above all an amazing story line. awesome, awesome, awesome.

I love and hate the map. Love it because it tells you were to go next, instead of me going to every single place. The challenge is to get to the spot in the place instead of finding it. I hate it because the hotkey is n. :( Who makes the map key n?

I'm noticing that the developer is adding more and more of these items which give you tips in completing parts of the game, but I really don't like the way they're just "there", the information is sometimes useful, but maybe it would be better if the level made that information obvious, or if your character just stopped for a second and made a helpful comment instead of having an un-realistic, pink item floating around.

Ehm... I can't find the statue it says to activate. I put all four gems in, but nothing else happens except the shaking and what not.

There's three crystal podiums, they're all on your map. You need to go backwards for the other two. The crystal podium quest starts once you activate the first one.
I found two fun facts! :D
One is in the snow mountain, the one where you can keep on climbing. The second was... well, I think I just fell somewhere.
