Awesome! Came back to it later, and I love this game! Also, I love how your first boss was Sinistar. The achievements allude to this as well!

(BTW I found out where to get the music. I am really sorry for all these posts. The music is on the title screen, if anyone else is looking for it.)

Ok, so I have the glide, and I flipped the mystery switch in the mountain, now where do I go? I have revisited every place, and I can't quite figure out where I am supposed to be. I get the feeling the answer is obvious once you've found it... but I can't! And I want to so badly...

Also, Still a great game and a great story about 5 years later. Still love to go back and play it though. Would rate 20/5. Would rate 6/5 for music alone.

@Glasnerven If you ever play this game again, know that there are four crystal podiums to get the good end, and the last one is hidden in a really hard to find place. *Hint* Get rid of your platforming game preconceptions.

The game dev on Kalevala (Nov 2014): http://chainedlupine.com/8-articles/6-lok-post-mortem "I've been quite pleased with Legend of Kalevala. It is my first major Flash game after a very lengthy lapse of working on games. (My last full-sized game was retro-styled shmup, released back in 2006.) While it's not the largest project I have worked on, it has turned out to be the most successful. I will document how the game was created, the initial jam version of LoK, discuss internals and bug-testing and finally how the game was affected by online piracy."

Something seems to be wrong . . . I've found all three Crystal Podiums, and I've activated them all, but I can't get past the wall that tells me about finding them.

A nicely made Metroidvania. Loses points for not quite sufficiently explaining one of the key points in the ending, as well as a door that was so undistinguished from it's surroundings that I had to consult a walkthrough. (It was the one between Kuriiri and Skim The Sky, if you're wondering.)
Four out of five stars, and I hope to see more from this developer.

To those wondering what you are controlling there is a fun fact in "Purpose" that states: "The only answer I can come up with is that it is a purple metallic pterodactylgreyhound mix. That clear it up. :)"

I was having a reasonably good time up to the final boss fight. It has no apparant projectiles that can be redirected back to it, and never goes low enough to be hit by your direct attack. Its just an endless loop of easily dodged moves. For comparison, the mid-boss didn't take more than 30 seconds to figure out how you hurt it.

This is one of the best games, flash or counsel, that I have ever played. I want to offer some constructive criticism, something that could be improved, but I cannot think of anything. I am not even sure if I want it to be longer because it might mess up the pacing. Thank you for making and sharing this game.

Anyone know what the "Boing Boing" and "Ouch! Make it stop!" awards are? "It's a secret" must be finding all the eggs, which I haven't done yet either.

It has a really good story and gameplay for a 2 days project, I really enjoyed it and look forward to the extension of the game. :)

Am I the only one who found it ridiculously hard to get back to the beam of light after placing all the gems? Monsters EVERYWHERE.

So I think I figured out how to fight the final boss. It shoots like this: 3 red bolts, one bomb, and multiple purple bolts. When the boss shoots the purple bolts, run forward to dodge them. When it shoots the red bolts, run backward to dodge them. This will put you in the right spot to deflect the bomb and hit it. When it fires a bomb, don't move, because the bomb is aimed to the spot you were when it fired it. Double jump and the bomb should hit the boss. Quickly crouch down and fire at the boss(if you hit it while it's falling, you can get three shots in). Then the boss will change to another pattern with three bombs and lots of purple bolts, and I have no idea how to fight that. D:

Fun game with a great retro style and fantastic music. I like the story, though it's broken up nature made it a bit hard to follow at times. I'd love to see more. My only complaint is the boss. There was no mechanic to how the bombs bounce and sometimes it would make me bounce off them into the boss despite hitting them from below.

Any one know the correct way to hit the bombs for the final boss? Every time I hit it, the bombs bounce off at too low of an angle and don't hit the boss. I always die before I can damage the boss. I really need help with this of I will be playing this game for the rest of my life.

This game is amazing: the story, the retro graphics, the soundtrack, the characters, the quotes and Fun Facts... I love it. <3

hm difficult or not i decided to persevere and learned that dont try to avoid all damage just make sure if you get damaged that you make it count.
