I like that the creator of the game actually took the time and energy to give it a story ( even a non-formulaic one ). It's a personal touch that's missing from a lot of games nowadays.

this. is. awesome. metroid + quill-panther = awesomeness. i did find a glitch, though. when i got to the snowy mountain area for the first time, there was a yellow forcefield that i wasn't supposed to be able to cross yet, but i walked up to it and hit attack and i could walk right through it like it wasn't there.

In version 1.7 be sure to include... shooting while you jump, jumping on top of moving platforms from the bottom, a way to look over memories, and more levels. thanks for making a great game. i like the way the music changes in each room and it has a story. 5/5

I love the retro feel and I like the dialog. It was interesting enough to make me read and consider it. Thanks for sharing this game with us, ChainedLupine!

Brilliant game, nothing left to say. Enjoyed absolutely everything about it, the story, the gameplay, the music and the enviroment.
Keep on the good work!

I love the style that this game has, and I like how the story unfolds as you find different memories, instead of just all at the beginning or something. The only thing I can suggest that would make it better is being able to shoot while jumping or falling. Incredible to have a game last this long, and only be a flash game, this is a very in depth game. For the graphics, I think they fit for it being this style of a game, nothing ridiculously fancy, but not just random shapes either.

One thing I noticed: The options menu calls the game "Legacy of Kalevala" instead of "Legend of Kalevala". Just thought I'd point that out.

If you're having trouble activating the statue at the end, it seems to be because you died after beating the ancestor ship and before reaching a revive point. Just touch the revive point there, die, and then it should work--I had to do that to activate the statue.
@Chained: The above can easily be fixed by putting a revive point at the start of the temple. :)

I know this is a ridiculous request, but could you make the doors glow or something? Sometimes they just blend right into the background.

buildabear214 Are you talking about the last boss? If yes, I was stuck at the same boss. So then I looked at the "Best" comments. There was a comment talking about how to win all the bosses and get the good and bad endings. I saw there that he said/wrote that you have to jump on the bombs the last boss throws.

"Almost there...Yes! Finally! I made it to the last place, after passing dangerous enemies and acid filled pits... I finally made it! WAIT WHATS THAT??? THERE WAS A BACK DOOR TO THIS PLACE!!?!!"

@uberpenguin When in the game, hit escape to bring up a menu. There is a button there that allows you to teleport to start.

I've been playing too much Pokemon... the first thing I saw on meeting the main character was: "Oh, it's an Umbreon!"

This game is absolutely STUPENDOUS. The story is engrossing, the game itself is very smooth, and it brings back a lot of Nostalgia...thank you very much sir for making this game

One of the best platformers i've played. The story was so gripping, and you get an amazing feeling when you have many powers. 5/5

Awesome game!!!! I would suggest that the recover pillars only give you a checkpoint if you press up. This way you can have a checkpoint at one end of the world, and not have to run all the way back if you forget to do something....like....I did....and if a checkpoint is active, then you don't need to press up to get health. Basically just reverse the roles of giving you health and check-pointing....if that makes sense...

Wow...seriously, may be one of the best games on Kong. The graphics, the sound and music, the story, the controls, the overall gameplay, actually having to explore, and figure out what you need to go where, or how to get past an area or defeat an enemy; not to mention all the care and effort and time ChainedLupine has clearly put into it (finding the fun facts was one of the coolest parts...I found three, is that all of them?). Everything about this game is just awesome. 10/5

I've played all of 10 seconds and already had numerous flashbacks to my younger years sitting in front of a crappy tv with a rectangular controller or sometimes that little black joystick. I have to say that this game is definitely going on my favorites if not for gameplay then for the feeling of nostalgia I get when I even hear it. Thank you for this.

This is the kind of game that draws me to Kongregate. The lack of inspiration that seems to plague the big studios is something that you can find among independent games. The game is fun to play and has a heartfelt storyline. Pleaseeee...make more games around Kalevala.
