I agree that there should be a sequel. A great suggestion for the sequel would be to follow up on what happened after the conquest of England or any battle related to the events that had occurred. Other than that this game was beyond amazing. Extremely accurate standpoint of history, phenomenal narration, excellent battle fields that match up with the topography and great battle commands. Love this game. There should be more games that teach history like what you have done here. Because of it I remember more of what happened and it sticks.

"Norman Knights lose 246 men, annihilating the rest of my 68 hurscals" "Norman Knights Flee" "You ripe-mouthed cur" The rest of the Normans retreat.

There's so many different strategies that can be accomplished with this game, waiting for the enemy to attack first just to meet a wall of shields, charging the enemy without warning, or just withering their morale away and striking them when they're at their weakest. Very excellent strategy game, and for the fact that it allows different factions with different strengths and weaknesses, 5/5 unquestionably.

I really wish taunt was less effective. I want to play hard mode for the strategic challenge without automatically losing due to the endless taunts.

An excellent example of what a little imagination can do. It makes battle interesting, and makes it fun to play over and over again, each with different forces! I LOVE IT!

I loved it! Brilliant thinking and excellent tactics/points reward system. My only complaint is that it is too short. LOVED IT!!!

I, as I always have, believe that taunting is over-powered in this game. Imagine, if you will, this scenario: The end of the battle is nearing, the tactical advantage is mine, my units are only a few turns away from victory. No prisoners were going to be taken. When we were only a few sqaures away, a shout rolled over the hills; "Ill-born fen rat!". At that, all of my hardened viking units' eyes brimmed with tears, and they turned and ran away, crying for their mums. Battle Rank: Peasant. Anyway, 4.5/5, great game.

The Huscarls are the best of the best, the bravest of the brave, they will fight to the death. They will never run away, they will never get the least bit frightened, they will never -
"YOU PIG FILTH!"
*Huscarls run away*

Am I the only person who cannot join a game with my friends? Me and my friend tried random match to join each other after our invite code didn't work several times, but it seemed that when we were matched with each other one of us had our game terminated. Help?

This is one of the few games on Kong that deserves a 5/5. This was not only fun, to play, but it was perfectly accurate from a historical stand point. A crusades version would be great, but keep on making these kinds of games.

Archery Tips:
1) 45 degrees is about the maximum your archers can elevate their shots and still shoot further. Past that, their arrows will most likely fall short.
2) When the enemy is close (especially on flat terrain), it is better to shoot upwards in a parabolic/arching path. Trying to shoot with less power than the max is risky, although this is from my personal experience.
3) Practice shooting by setting up a large battle and lining up a bunch of archers. You'll be able to learn and remember the elevation and power needed to hit specific points.

One of my favorite strategy games! I hope there will be a sequal, Or even another battle like the battle of Waterloo.

The morale-system is strange in this game. My men took more morale-damage by the enemy's taunting - 10 rounds of "You pig filth!", shouted by 400 remaining men to my 2500 remaining men .. how .. intimidating.. - than from beeing shot to death by their own bowmen (which sounds like sirious "that's not our day, aye?"-stuff).

You should make an 1864, Civil War era, with cannons instead of archers. That way you could have more than 3 battles xD

If you make a game like 1066,but with a campaign where we get to choose the people we want to play as ,and conquer the world, then i think everybody would love it even more than 1066.Keep the battle mechanics as it is though.Couldnt ask for better :D.Anyone that thinks this idea is nice say so,so the developer can see it.

I've found a very exploitable configuration: line up your archers, varangian/huscarl/men-at-arms, and the king. With this, the AI is tricked into lining up, allowing you to take easy shots at the enemy king and other troops with your archers. That being said, do not march the line forward; stay in one place, shoot, and fortify. I typically put the archers right behind a single unit of varangian/huscarl/men-at-arms and rotate that first rank whenever need be. Following up on my comment about archers, I've found that playing the Normans with this method is best; their overall balance allows them to make deadly shots at enemy archers and withstand some damage themselves. Obviously, take out the enemy archers first with this method. Using this "parade of death" method, I've been able to essentially break the game and achieve the "king" rank in nearly all battles.

Flash finally stoped working for me. It was fun while it lasted. All these memories that these simple but fun games helped us grow when we were young. Now it's gone. Sweet dreams my sweet prince.

Would be a really good game if the morale wouldn't be that broken. The morale of the troops should be mostly affected by the players decisions not by such mundane things like taunting. For example there were two lines of enemies (and me too 2 lines + some loose units for flanking), I killed the first line having lost 1 unit of the, made a quick attack on the second line, moved the two remaining unit's out of the way and charged at the enemies with my second line. After defeating that main army of the enemy... I lost because the enemy kept taunting me while I literally crushed his forces. Shouldn't my unit's have gained a morale boost because they defeated so many enemies in such a short time without loosing many men? Shouldn't the enemies unit's be fearing me because they lost their main force?

This needs badges, and more games with a similiar gameplay. this is the best and most unique strategy game I have ever played.

1066 is awesome. I've played this game since it was released. Wish this developer would use this same format for other historical battles. If this ever gets ported to mobile, I'll be playing it all day.

You know that the two best parts of the game are?
1. Charging your Varangian Guard right into the enemy, killing whole squads of men.
2. Shooting arrows at fleeing men.
Now, if only MY men stopped retreating.....

The taunt function needs to be limited somehow. One unit should not be able to "scare" off an entire army. While I was messing around and experimenting with archers, I left the sole remaining unit alone (except for firing at it with some archers) and that one unit was able to lower my Army's morale from over 60 to 0 and win. I had 7 or 8 units.
Perhaps weight the effectiveness of taunt based on the size of the forces.

They say that civilization was born when the first man threw words instead of rocks. Never has this been more painful a truth than in this game.
