At first this game seemed really cool and promising but then after a while the terrible controls set in, sometimes the jump button is completely unresponsive or it only jumps tiny bit. Flat parts of the terrain need to be jumped over in order to get past. other bumpy parts are flat and you float in middair. controls are clunky and slow and yet slidey and you will accelerate faster off ledges and such which will often cause you to slide around an. the interactive box for ladders is too narrow and fall deaths don't seem to serve any purpose other than to occur because of the dodgey controls. Also why is the ability button E and jump space? it's not the most natural layout. granted I am only up to the third level and the art style and concept is great and I want to keep playing but right now I am just repeatedly falling to my death because of the slidey physics and crappy controls.

nice game! controls were very ok... compared to other platformers like Meatboy.. only thing that annoyed me a bit were some glitches e.g. when you suddenly can't move anymore. Levels didn't load that long either for me (played on Chrome)

Sorry about that, but the game has a terrible name if you want to find anything about it using google. Anyway playtheend.com website is dead and it seems that nobody is hosting the game anymore. Funny, but although the game has been awarded several times, nobody seems to be interested in it being alive. Bummer for achievement freaks!

Interesting platforming concept, I actually have to say. Fairly fun, but I agree that the controls should be loosened up a bit. I personally don't mind the links and ads, but whatever. Load times aren't too terrible for me either; at least the levels are somewhat long and quite challenging, though again that's partially from the stiff movement. Overall enjoyable, if not frustrating maybe too often, and is also relatively innovative, what with the shadow manipulating to create new platforms. I wish there was more to do while playing Deathcards, but I guess it's good enough as it is, even if it's kinda out of place compared to the rest of the game. However I think what is most interesting to me is the philosophical questions you must answer to complete a level, and what the effect they have on your spiritual character as a result. So I liked it, but since the controls are clunky I'll give a 4/5. And does anyone think the Self Discovery requirements should be two seperate hard badges?

Beautiful game with a lot of potential however there are some issues that make it almost not worth playing. Saving is wonky, controls are bizarre, and the game is super delicate, i.e. if you don't hit something *just* right, it doesn't work. The extreme long loading time is also a flaw. It has such potential, but these issues make it really hard to keep playing after you've tried a level several times and keep missing just *this* much.

the game is pretty well done... however, the character movement... running, jumping, climbing etc. is just inexact enough to make it annoying. In this day and age I expect platformers' physics and character movement to be better than this. It gets to the point of being frustrating and adding difficulty to the game where none was intended.

Controls are awful. Make up the jump button and space the shadow power. Also, physics are terrible. The platform mini-game thing is the only problem I have.

I'd love to be able to say this is a great game... but I just can't. Controls are dodgy, some levels are ridiculously awkward and it takes far too long to load quite little.
Nevertheless, liked the questions and the card game. Too bad the rest of it spoils it. 2/5

Game looks great, but controls are awkward. Up enters doors, space jumps, E does shadows? Try putting all the keys we need together. Up jumps works way better for most users.

Controls in this game are the most idiotic I have ever experienced in my entire life of playing all video games. Sure some have little glitches or errors but this one literally was so half-assedly thrown together that I personally would like to smack the shit out of the designer
I have never gone out of my way to leave a bad review for anything. Bravo

you would think after waiting forever for the game to load up, the individual levels would already be preloaded ... but apparently not ... so what was getting loaded at the start then?

i like this game. Both the puzzle mechanism, the light power, and the death card game are good. but what sets it apart for me is the philosophic questions. Its nice that someone is trying to make people think about these things, particularly when video games are so often seen as just violence. Very nice. 5/5

you know, having the final "level" be a joke that never loads, doesnt work well with a game that has horribly long loading times.

A good idea, integrate philosophical thinking in a game, but above the technical problems concerning the game in itself, I just found very manichean the choices that you have to do when you are at the end of a level you know, to choose between "yes" or "no",if we consider the questions which are asked to the player, there is a lot of thing to say...

I haven't played a game that makes WASD or arrow controls so difficult to use.
It's a good game and a good concept and everything, but doing the timed missions with these awful controls makes me want to throw my laptop out the window.

Ah woops.... when I went back to get the time achievement thing... I've been almost purposefully putting in the opposite answer... I thought that it was only the first answer you choose that counted... although I suppose it is a good thing you can change your answers if you wanted to. :)
but other than the loading time, I overall like the game.

I like how in the body world and the 5th level the moving stone head, the floating totems nor the stars have no collision detection after a few tries, so when I try to jump onto something I just fall infinitely into the blackness, waaay past the clouds layer.

can i please just jump with W or the up arrow key? it would just control so much easier. the platforming parts are by far the worst part of the game, the controls are simply awful

First, if you're going to use circular objects for platforming (aka the trees/bushes), PLEASE don't put the exact same objects in the foreground just for decoration. I fell to my death so many times because there's no difference between the two.
Second, "Restart Checkpoint" feels completely useless as it doesn't adjust the timer. In other words, if I'm going for a Time Challenge and I make any mistakes, I have to completely restart the level in order to get back lost time. On levels with longer timers, this means I have be near-perfect for ~3 minutes.

I really liked the concept of this game (as with all channel 4 games). I adored the artwork and the ability to make my own character; my puzzle solving brain enjoyed the death cards and I was in the mood for a game that 'makes-you-think' (if taken seriously some of those questions were quite tricky).
Unfortunately I think this game may have tried to appeal to too many different sorts of gamers at once. While meditating on whether someone should be allowed to hold the power of life or death over another person I didn't appreciate constantly repeating level that i had figured out HOW to complete after the second try but couldn't quite get my fingers and timing right for. While some of this may be due to lack of practice (I prefer puzzles over platforms), there were certainly some sections where jumps etc were hard to judge.

Promising game but the flaws ruin it. Control response sucks, time challenges are frustrating at best and rage-inducing more often than not, I do not use Facebook and do not want to be directed there for anything, and now the Death Cards game on the first spirit level will not load. How did this get badged?
