Really decent concept, but totally unplayable on older machines. For example, on time-based missions, when the game starts to lag, I lost around 15 seconds without having made any mistakes. Therefore, though I'd wanted to give more: 2/5

The auto quality just s*cks, i keep changing it and disabling it and just keep changing my quality to high... and because of that i simply cannot play in multiplayer... 1/5 untill that changes

Why can't I write my name in the nickname? My name is Dick but it says it's a naughty word and won't let me write it in. How is my name nau- Wait, oh, you guys mean penis. You are immature, I've gone my whole life being made fun of for that name, and I come here and get mocked too. Screw this game.

Decent game, though some critical points.
1) First game to ever crash my browser on Kongregate.
2) Uncontrollable zooming, and only two grades of 'speed'.
3) Doesn't really feel like sailing, more like Need for Speed: English Drifters. See Pirates! or other such games for more accurate representations.
4) Upgrades are maxed (all 40's and the gaps filled with the next highest) by level 2 of the arcade. Is this normal?

This is a breath of fresh air in flash gaming and programming. I am very entertained with this game. The controls, I can see what I think was meant to be, but it just isn't there for me. Being able to cut a tighter corner would be nice but then again would it be realistic? All in all this is a great game, faved it, will be back again. If the controls aren't tweaked a bit I can learn to work with them just like any other game. It just has that curve you have to "get". Overall though for 11 megs, this is ultra good amazing.

disabling auto quality also doesn't work in multiplayer, i keep turning it off, setting quality to low, and keep getting booted for low framerate, when i right click and check quality, it's set back to high. glitches ruin the game

this game would be good, if the darn thing would stop zooming in, yes i've done the right click disable zoom thing, but it is STILL zoomed in making it impossible to see ships before they're shooting at me.

Nice game. My browser keeps crashing (I use Firefox). Controls are frustrating. Concept is cool.
Because of the negatives, I only can give a 3/5, otherwise it could have been higher.

this is cool for an update u should try and make it so the people can board the enermy ship with grappling hooks, like boarding it and if its a better ship than yours (more cannons, more armor etc) u can take it.

I have to comment this game: absolutelly amazing concept and idea. I love the history facts (they could be improved and enlarged though). It could be improved with more ships as well so we could hire more crew).
I just regret all the other games I rated with 5, because I can't give a 6).
PS: To all of you complaining about turning and moving, drop the anchor and you can do whatever you want).

Lots of good things. Could add the option to buy new ships, or improve the ship and the crew. It would be nice to know if there is a difference between the three types of shot. They are listed with nice description, but they aren't rated by damage or loading time (a good way to make the most powerful weapon the slowest loading). I agree with others who have mentioned that dropping anchor is not the best way to control the accel/descel of the ship. In a real ship, dropping anchor at the wrong time would tear apart the deck, or just result in killing crew members if the chain failed. In the game it does have a fun sort of e-brake effect if you can master it though. :) I could really see a second episode of this game with some tweeking of the physics and some added personalization for the player.

it freezes my browser with higher quality than low, it sucks that i cant change my wepons or you dont give any instructions how to and it also does suck that visibility range depends on the quality. also i dont have a poor computer but it really froze the hell outta my browser

i'd have to say that this game has a very cool idea, but numerous bugs and the insufficient controls call for a Trafalgar Orgins number 2.....DEFINETELY
