Why am I fifth in today's leaderboard? I got absolutely battered in 2 games and, for some reason, it's giving the victories to me. Not that I'm complaining or anything...

Once I know who plays with engine, I don't play them again. Engines play popular main line openings, but if the opponent plays shy quiet openings or odd openings, then I know for sure they are just humans. Engines don't play odd stuff

my opponent ran out of time but all it said was "MOVE 4042_R_52:1"...then with 3:13 still on my clock and having made the last move I wound up losing on time! This happens often. Sad.

I am a bit more worried about 1. e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Nd2 Nf6 4.e5 Nfd7 5.f4 c5 6.c3 Nc6 7. Nf3 (which Knight ?)
if 7.Ngf3 then
7... cxd4 ( or 7... Qb6 is good too ) 8.cxd4 f5 !
if 7.Ndf3 then
7... Qb6 8.g3 Be7 !? 9.Bd3? and white loses the d pawn, so if 9.Bh3 then 9... cxd4 10.cxd4 f6 !? and Black gets his favorite break.

Bovu, you shouldn't fear the French. I've had great success against it in USCF tournaments playing the Tarrasch (3. Nd2), if they play 3...Nf6 then the e5, f4, Ne2, Nf3, Bd3 set-up is quite strong. The bad bishop black gets on c8 is also a plus.

I play 1.e4 or known as King's pawn opening. I have a huge amount of trouble facing the French defense 1... e6. French defense players need to go to some other servers and leave us alone. I am willing to take any tips but nothing so far seems to work, if I play 2.d4 then 3.Nc3 I face 3... Bb4 and we end up in a winawer and I hate that pin on the knight. If I play 3.Nd2, then I see 3... Nf6 and we are right back in the type of game they want. I won't even touch the advance variation with 3.e5 because I always end up losing my center.

just played a 10-min game. Opponent ran out of time and I had 5:45 left. Message came up: MOVE 4050_Q_58:1...After a couple of minutes it began a countdown: u10...u9...u8...when it reached zero I lost on time. Terrible glitch in this game.

Crazy russian people need to learn english and stop wasting my time. It seems everytime I'm winning they don't play until the timer runs out every time they win, I don't play and they think I'm a prick

I had 1 secods left whe LDB ran out of time and I lost on time. I got tricked into playing him too. H is talentless and was losing on the board as well ut he eithr cheats or has super-fast pc/isp so plays only to win on time. Get a life LDB

this site needs to learn what constitutes a draw. I made over 100 moves without a pawn move or piece capture (B+P vs B+P ending w/opposite colored bishops) and lost on time.

chesshotel, I keep getting disconnected. The board disappears and it's replaced by a grey circle, with a smaller filled grey circle inside. In the inside grey circle there is a white exclamation point.
