C'mon guys, complaining about the computer cheating at Battleships is like whining it cheats at Tic-Tac-Toe. This would be a great variation of Battleships with very cool graphics and sound except for the purchasable options. Vote up TenderVittles and try to spend the minimum necessary to complete a level. It gets hard but it's not freakin' rocket science. 5/5

The problem is that the AI is either cheating, incredibly lucky, or the game is plain broken. See, the player gets limited money to buy upgrades, but the AI has unlimited upgrades. So, they can fire expensive ass missiles again and again and again and again, while i get only three or four. Then, when i fail, I have less money to buy weapons and upgrades.
The player should get the same amount every time.

Funny that the enemys sub isn't on the line where it hits your boats. Seeing as they only can shoot forward by the looks of it.

I think I ran into a bug: shooting for last enemy ship, the smallest one. got a hit, and then it wouldn't let me shoot any other squares around it.

There's nothing wrong with the difficulty; it's your strategy that's the problem. Here are some tips: do not fire in straight lines unless you've hit something; no ship is smaller than 2 squares, so a checkerboard pattern over the whole board will reveal all ships, but don't START with such a fine checkerboard, because you want to find the large ships first. Instead hit every fourth square (adapting when you get a hit or near an island) so that you can fill in to every second square later on. You want to hit the large ships first because when you sink them, you reveal a huge section of the board. And so, you want to put YOUR large ships by the edge of the map to reduce the amount of map that is revealed when they sink. If you find a mine, there is a ship next to it. If you uncover a ship with radar, always hit it with plasma. Don't look for ammo near islands, just consider the squares around them explored. Rate up if this is helpful to you so that others may also see it.

Fun remake of a classic. The only real complaint I have is the enemy AI...it cheats, big time. As a test, I scattered the map with tons of mines on a few levels, and never ONCE did the enemy hit a mine. I've seen mines get hit when I only had one...but you'd think having ten would increase the likelihood of a hit.

@lichstudios if it was that way there would be not lesss stratigy envolved, because one does not get to change their upgrades each round to suit their stratigy. The way he made this game is awesome and it is challenging however not impossible. It FUN!

Try to reserve as much cash as possible 'til the end, for instance, there's no need to use anything more than a few mines on the first 10 levels at least. The more cash you save early on, the easier the later levels will be. Also, if you lose a level, you can't lose cash, but will lose all unused specials.
As for the AI, it truly is random, sometimes gets huge lucky streaks and sometimes pulls the stupidest possible moves.

1/5 for incredibly "intelligent" AI. Yeah right, they dont shoot random. All ships get grazed in 5rd turn.
The AI is on a cheating spree and anyone who disagrees is a moron.

Good game, but it would have been nice to see the weapons as upgrades, rather than buying them all over each round. (Eg. lvl 1 would be a single use each round. Weapon caches could still be some extra uses for the current round)

Cant beat level 11 with 70% accuracy. The better you do the more the AI cheats. And considering that do they really need unlimited specials.

The AI Opponent does not need unlimited specials when players have to operate on a shoe string budget. It doesn't make the game a challenge, it just makes it suck more later on.

I am stuck on the 3rd or 4th level before the last on the map. No destroyers (no plasma cannon), and the enemy has a huge fleet and a ton of specials. I think I should replay the level a few times to save up 4-5k for EMP and air strikes/rockets if I am to have a chance, but it's boring. Overall quite enjoyable 3/5

Great graphics! But why does the carrier attack the enemy with rockets, but not by sendingthe waves of bombers?
Liked the gameplay features, too :)
