That was really fun! I am so proud that I figured out all the levels by myself! Once you realize you can put functions into functions, the hardest level becomes easier to beat. I don't think I could actually be a programmer--here you can see exactly where your program went wrong as you run it. With a real program, it just tells you its wrong and you have to go all the way back through everything you did to figure out what's wrong. Though programming's not for me, great game!

If you're stuck and would like some help I've made a quick walkthrough showing you how to complete all 12 levels here: http://goo.gl/FFKbzd I hope it helps some of you!

Level 11 was hardest for me too. I used up all the spaces there, but on 12 I had 11 slots open. Took a few tries, but the pattern was easy to squeeze in there.

After doing level 12-my brain feels like a hot lite bulb!! Step down Robot-I'll take your place! Exceptional game! >^_^<

Advice for level 10: don't zig zag up the stairs to the first light. Go up to the top level and jump down. It both gives you a reusable pattern and cuts out two steps from the other path (the extra two turns).
And don't be afraid to have extra forwards into walls or whatever to be able to have reusable functions.

when I reached level 7 I realized I never got the award for reaching level 5!!!!!! I refreshed and tried again and didn't get it.

Got the hard badge back in 2008, apparently. Came here to grab the Kongpanion, quickly completed the game again! :D 23 mins and 182 commands. Well chuffed :)

this game reminds me of logo and an IBM 486 where you used the turtle (as we used to call it) to draw..around 15 years ago..

It is bad that you can try to see your robot moving without command limit and then reduce the number of command... because i had to write on block notes all the command for my robot! but i got bored and quit! :D

i wish i could use recursive functions, but for that i'd need conditional statements or being able to finish the level while the bot isn't done yet.

Luckily most programming languages have a standard library with extra functions and no character limit. C++/Python experience doesn't help you a bit here.

I made a program that solved the levels itself, however I can't solve 10, 11 and 12 myself. Not sure if that makes me good or bad at programming.

I have to say the reason 10 is difficult is totally irrelevant to programming. We don't have those kinds of constraints when coding.

as a programmer in training. i have to say, it doesn't make it much easier. really, all it takes is spotting when each action needs to be used. i do this by making the light-bot walk in my head, stating each action as it happens.

I tought lvl 11 was the hardest, because I kept thinking in the wrong direction. The other ones were pretty easy, I'm no programmer. I love the game though! I could of course try to decrease the amount of commands in the meantime.

FUN TIP: Let Lightbot have some fun spinning around by filling up the functions with 'turn' actions and filling the main function with your other functions.
