Under rating threshold (show) Fantastic TD game, best I've seen in a long time. Enemy variety, tower upgrades, map layouts, difficulty curve - all around a very well made title with surprising depth. I don't think it's possible to do all the levels with the same strategy, which is rather rare in this genre. Polished presentation and lack of apparent bugs just top it off. For me, easily the best defense game of 2010. 5/5

Under rating threshold (show) 15 levels after, I'm still totally looking forward to new enemies, new towers and new "scripts". the difficulty is very nice, the game itself encourages players to be very active while playing every wave (moving towers around, timing scripts, recycling...) the story is great... everything about this game has been well done. :) 5/5 favorite.

Under rating threshold (show) Very nicely constructed TD game. Love the look, style and theme of it, nice soothing music, an actual storyline (which is rare in this genre) and non-conventional system for upgrading towers. Plus it's got that cool background which reminds me of the visual representation of the Gibson from 'Hackers'. Kudos CoreSector. Keep up the great work.

Under rating threshold (show) Might i say that this is my new favorite flash game ever? The upgrade system is innovative and creative, and the scripts were clever as well. the music was perfect for the game, and the sound effects were pretty dandy as well. i know this is WAYYYYY early, but it would be great if there was a sequal? :D

Under rating threshold (show) You have created a wonderful game, Core Sector. I normally do not enjoy most tower defense games, but you've got me hooked on this one. The gameplay is very innovative, getting the player involved in the defense actively by allowing shifting of towers and scripts to run. Not to mention the upgrade system for the towers! This is, what I think hooks me in the most. Getting all the upgrades and towers, then just /tinkering/ to see what sort of strangeness I can make. Tracer towers with 2 forks, a link, and beam. The result's not that effective, but it puts on an excellent light show! Bravo, Core Sector. I will practically beg for a GH2.

Under rating threshold (show) moving towers is great and always receiving full value for any tower or upgrade you recycle is much appreciated and the memory system is much better than the money or mana in other TDs 5/5!

Under rating threshold (show) One of the greatest reasons this TD is good is because each level is short but still exciting. One of the worst parts of most TD games is that the levels drag on forever, and if you are playing to get some sort of achievement, one mistake will throw your entire level off. And you get to go through the joys of replaying one level over and over again.

Under rating threshold (show) Definitely the best TD I've played in quite a while. I loved that you could unlock new Techs and Towers right till the end and that they actually made a strategic impact. Also, while it can be an effective technique, juggling is not required to beat any mission. Well thought-through and polished game 5/5 ----- Silly afterthoughts: if one AI is called a Singularity, would that make them a Plurality? Why didn't Axon make a backup on _every_ PC that's connected to the net? Also, awww no apoteosis for the protagonist.

Under rating threshold (show) I wish that there was multiple choices in the story mode-questions you could ask, even if it didn't change the story/levels ahead. It would give the story replay-ability. 5/5 and favorited.

Under rating threshold (show) Thank you for the speed up and start next wave buttons! Finally, a TD game that gets it right. Full sellback for towers, and movable towers. But most of all, a speed up button. Thank you so much for the speed up buttons.

Under rating threshold (show) A very nice game. After playing so many td's when I started playing this I was like this kind of sucks till I realized you cant play this like other td's and once I got used to playing it it works very well. The one thing that took me like 3 lvls to figure out was the scripts give you back the money you spent in the beginning I was like why would I waist money on those. I also like how you can move any tower and how you can supposedly sell them for full money not that I ever found a reason to sell a tower on this game. Also the story nd music were nice to. Keep up the great work.

Under rating threshold (show) The tower defense genre has been done to death in just about every variation, so it's truly rare to find a TD game that feels new, fresh and addictive. Ghost Hacker is one such game. If you like TDs, you should definitely give this a try. The upgrade system is quite clever, and the tower and upgrade moving mechanics allow for some more advanced timing-based strategies.

Under rating threshold (show) I liked this. I play a lot of these TD games, but none like this one so far. The addition of how I custom make my towers made me quite happy, although, I wish the colors were not random - perhaps you could choose what colors you have on each type of tower before the match, or perhaps during- ...Although the randomness in that aspect was not bad for me at all. The story line was indeed decent, infact I was enjoying it enough to want to finish the game - and thats a HUGE bonus to any game regardless of style of game it is. All in all a great game, I give it a 5/5, and a request for a second and perhaps third game. Like my comment if you agree with that last statement - perhaps someone might take this into account and make a Ghost Hacker 2.

Under rating threshold (show) Best TD game I've played yet (and I've tried quite a few)! It's rare that a TD game actually makes you think about how to counter the various enemies in each level. I like the fact that your towers don't actually get any stronger on their own... you need to figure out which abilities to use together to be the most effective. 5/5

Under rating threshold (show) This Tower Defense game truly is up there with the greats. It has an innovative feel and design and, as the best comments have been saying, does actually have a storyline to it. After you've completed a level it all feels very rewarding which I love. Definitely a 10/10 game. One last comment; thank you for making it so that you speed the game up!

Under rating threshold (show) @DarthSteven: The biggest difference with this game and Don't Touch My Gems is that this game does not have ridiculous enemies that can dodge every one of your attacks or go invisible to all your towers. This game relies on skill instead of luck for getting all cores. Also, walkthroughs or easy mode is always available if a situation just seems too difficult.

Under rating threshold (show) I really love this game! Too bad it 'ends' after level 28. Please make a ghost hacker 2 and/or a level editor. I think the best part of the game is the unlock/upgrade system and the fact that you can never 'lose' memory, only time.

Under rating threshold (show) Don't think I ever mentioned, despite first playing years ago... Ghost Hacker is easily STILL the best Tower Defense game I've ever played. Clean game concepts & design, modular & adaptable towers, respectful and accurate use of programmer jargon (as opposed to, say, the CSI television show), addicting challenges that feel like puzzles instead of tedium, and so much more to love. 6/5 AT LEAST, and a definite Favorite.

Under rating threshold (show) I've played 6 levels of this so far and like it, but I have a suggestion. The strategy part of this game would go a whole lot faster if we where allowed to choose what tower upgrade colors we want. I spend a good 2 minutes waiting for the colors to cycle before I place an infection tower just so I can have one with the stats I want. We should be allowed to customize our colors to how we see fit, and even have a 3 red if we so wished.

Under rating threshold (show) I must admit this is probably the only Tower Defence that I ever appreciated on this website. No stupid grinding, no annoying long upgrades, no massive amount of waves, different strategies required in each level, addition of new elements that keep the player interested and entertained. Almost feels like a puzzle game. I hope other TD developers will learn from your quality in designing. The only minor annoyance is the unability to immediately select the surrounding colours of a tower, but since we aren't supposed to build more than 2-3 towers in each level that doesn't feel too bad either. Good job!

Developer response from CoreSector

The difficulty of the original game got reduced a bit before it was released. Originally, there was no easy difficulty so I had to scale the normal difficulty back. Fear not though, the sequel is going to have 2 extra difficulty levels.
