dymani555's comment about holding space didn't help at all, until I figured out that it only works in ONE direction. Example: Hold left and space, and it'll keep working unless you press up, down, or right.

if youre really having problems with the challenge mode... just upgrade damage to 18(max) then work on fire rate... it only says survive until wave 30, not defeat wave 30... so you should be able to capture a few flags (i got 3) and then the enemies will start to outnumber you... try to run in circles around the big box of 5 flags and the obstacles...when the metal hands appear for the boss round on wave 30, youll get the badge just wait a few minutes... but try to shoot things out from in front of you and keep running in circles and you should be ok

This game does NOT work on my Chromebook. It ignores the keyboard for several seconds so I can't move, then zips across the map. I have no idea what keyboard settings might work.

Hard badge: Max out weapon damage first (18 points), any further points go in fire rate. When surrounded use the cheap mines to clear your route forward, and occasionally use them to blast the swarm chasing you. Get top 5 flags as fast as you reasonably can. The bottom section is a death trap - never go there, do NOT get bottom flag. Do not bother healing - it is worthlessly slow and it will get you surrounded.

Useful tip for anyone struggling for the hard badge... go for the flag on the bottom first for the extra points early on... then get only just enough points into damage to kill the kamikazes in 2 shots (you wont 1 shot em, even at maxed)... so about 10 points... then everything else into fire rate, you will be swarmed, a lot... that's how I did it, very effectively.

For 30/Challenge mode you need first to capture the bottom flag, then the other four. Then you should privilege healing to capturing other flags. Upgrade first damage to 18, then rate of fire. Use only the cheapest mine often.

The "Back" and "try again" buttons at the end of a level aren't working, at least on easy. I can still hit the main menu button, though, so it's not a major bug.

I'm only just about to start the game, but looked at the Achievements first, and saw the following: 'Kill 3000 Seargents' (also used in the line below - I don't yet know if it is also used within the game itself).
This comment is just to point out that this should be changed to the correct spelling of 'Sergeants' (British & US English).
(Note: I added this comment as I personally think that correct spelling is important in games - bad spelling doesn't look good, and with the number of younger players on the site, I think it is important to get spelling and grammar correct).

The game mechanics are a pain. This needs much better configuration. I didn't bother to use any of the mines or explosives until level 37 normal, because the lost time in moving off the playing area, grabbing the item, and placing it simply takes too much time. By the time I have to use the bombs, they're barely more effective than my firearm. I can't imagine how this is supposed to work on a harder mode.
Also, it's silly to use stone-age key bindings. Let me configure the movement and shooting keys, and at least give me hot keys to choose the bombs and mines.
Finally, there should be a description of the monster mechanics somewhere. Don't leave me guessing as to what these critters are supposed to be, or what aspects of the graphics I'm supposed to avoid.
This is a good start, but I'm just tired of playing the beta version. "Badge of the Day" should be reserved for more mature games. This one isn't far -- one or two upgrade releases should do it.

Adding onto Dirk2550 about holding onto the spacebar to increase Rate of Fire, it also increases Capture Speeds & Regen Speeds. That makes it easier to get more skill points earlier in game.

Just skill damage and fire rate equally, don't mind speed. make sure you spend of your time on the flags. Very easy to reach level 35+ without even using any bombs.

@chaindeath: This game is rated 3.79/5 because back when it came out in 2009 it was a rather good game. A lot of improvements have been made to games in the past 6 years.

Tips for Hard Badge: NEVER upgrade speed. Upgrade Damage and Fire Rate equally by 5. First upgrade Damage to 5, then stop and upgrade Fire Rate to 5, and so on. Try to capture as much as you can, but leave when there are enemies coming at you. If you need health, camp on the bottom of the map and do zig-zag on the clear zone if you need to get some extra enemies away. This way I got to Wave 35 in my first try. Vote up if this helped you.

Playing this on a laptop. Apparently you can't move the mouse cursor while you are pressing a directional key. Makes it impossible to actually find any enjoyment whatsoever. Serious failure there... Got my 50 kills for the BotD and left 1 star just for the bad experience...

I like the concept and the gameplay. However, i have a few issues.
The game is not challenging enough, apart from the challenge mode.
More ranged thumbs would be cool.
The use of the mines and dynamite would work a lot more fluent with hotkeys instead of drag&drop.
Music would be nice, as well as a few more sound effects
And the glitch with the spacebar needs to be fixed.

You might have to reset the browser to get the daily achievement. I completed all 40 waves, and it said I only completed 17 waves. Then it changed to 27, then 28, and then when I was about to report a missing badge, I got the achievement. See Eisvogel's comment.
Oh, and the "Hold Spacebar and Shoot" method works wonderfully! Thanks dylmani555!

Seriously... follow dylmani555's comment on the glitch. Hold spacebar and stand still for it to work, and you will COMPLETELY destroy any wave as long as you only upgrade rate of fire+damage.

I think the best way to get to level 30/40 is go directly to a flag hold space, don't move until the wave is defeated. then go to the next flag etc (try to get an extra flag if possible between the waves.
The firs waves will be difficult, but if you're still alive at wave 16 (at best you have 15 power and 16 rate) then keep on doing it and the rest wil be easy.
If you do it by this strategy it is best to have always one more rate than power (and 0 speed)
NOTE: try to get the bad placed flags (most left) on weak waves; and find a good spot for the hard waves
also: while you are at the upper left flag a lot of the fingers firering will be stuck on the corners and can often still be hit
