Some of the comments here really helped! Managed to kill the world in 86 or so days! Seeing "Madagascar has been infected" then "Madagascar devoid of life" ... Heavenly!

Many thanks to all those who gave tips both here, and in the Forums. Reading some of those through made me realise that the game wasn't as random as I had thought, and helped me understand the mechanics much better. After an extremely long time trying, I've finally got the badge!
The mistakes I had been making personally were: not noticing at which population level different countries would start reacting, if I hadn't sold my symptoms; having the Infection rate too fast towards the start of the game; and I had been trying to infect too many people before any deaths started.
All dead by Day 86. Score 171698 'The Madagascan Death'!

played this game, after 3 hours stood up and sneezed...an hour later i am sick and all i am thinking is "go to madagascar, help the dev pull this off and go infect that damn island!" anyways...now we got ebola all of a sudden...i leave you to your thoughts!

how to completely destroy vaccine, have them start working on vaccine for you when you have no symptoms, step 2: GET ALL SYMPTOMS! step 3: profit!

I felt more accomplished when I saw "Madagascar is devoid of life" than when I received my high school diploma. And I'm okay with that.

I started to make these notes when all Countries were infected, and thought others might find them useful!
Start: Cuba - Virus, Durable, & Catching (wouldn't normally use any Transmission). Using Sneezing & Coughing, then 1-1-1-0. Remove Coughing when a mainland region affected; remove Sneezing when a country on each Land-mass is infected. Wait.. All Countries infected by day 29. Increase to 1-1-1-4 (*must* get 4). Get Coughing & Sneezing back, open Tiers 2 & 3. Remove any unwanted Symptoms on Tier 2/3. Get Diarrhoea, Vomiting, Pulmonary Oedema (Edema), Hypersensitivity & Fever. (This should actually be enough according to Infection and Death rate...) Wait, & save points for Kidney Failure. All infected by: Day 67. Save points to add Kidney failure (Day 72), then Fatigue - should have waited for Ataxia (not Fatigue)? All dead: Day 102 - not again... ARGH!

Once everyone in a country has been infected, why do the 'Government Affairs' still happen? (I'd think that when over 95% of the World has died - and the others are in the process of doing so - that 'Curfews are enforced' etc, would no longer be a priority/posssibility!).
Also, that is some *really* impressive Border Control going on! Even when almost everyone on the planet has died, even an animal isn't getting through! (Why - for example - can't I use 'Transmissions' to infect Countries with closed Borders?)
Still love the game, although I'm still being driven mad by the PMA badge! (I've killed the world several times over. My nearest attempts were 101 days (more than once...), and 1 person surviving on day 100 - ARGH!

Ikr! Madagascar is so hard! However, even if you have NO visibility, people will still make a vaccine. I guess it WAS made in 2008...

its easy....
use virus.. get level one of all resistances. get level 4 medical. get rats. only have fever. wait wait wait. if you dont get madagascar, then just try again. after all countries infected, then buy all the symptoms! (forget the rest of transmission and resistances) you will win in less than 100 days!

From playing this, I've noticed that the gameplay is not flexible enough to do what the game demands of you. Basically you have to hope for the randomness of the disease spread to infect everywhere before everything shuts down. Even being the least noticeable setup possible I still was unable to infect every country and this was with multiple hard resets. For anything this game might do well, the whole "madagascar" part of this game and the severe punishment for not getting onto the tiny island before the airports of the entire world shut down for a virus that is less dangerous than any other one makes this game disgustingly bad. It maybe one bad game flaw, but it's game breaking and that's all it takes.

infected north africa complety with a virus that causes coughing. martial law is in effect, there handing out watter and masks, curfews enforced, killing of rodents and insects. must be a terrible cough.

At first I gave this game 4 stars. Then I started to see how unrealistic some of the factors were. What medical community would waste time and money on a vaccine for a virus/bacteria/parasite with no symptoms? How do you spot a "disease" with no symptoms? Who shuts down facilities and borders for a "disease" with no symptoms? Why are you even allowed to get rid of all symptoms? You should be required to have at least one symptom and there should be at least a slight chance for infection to spread. Great concept but lacking in execution.
