So like, just to be clear, this game has strict tules about the disease not spreading, even a little, if the government closes its borders? So if Madagascar closes its ports, it's basically game over?

Sometimes return to this game for old time's sake but quickly stop playing when I remember why it's infamous. There might be some strategies which work better than others but overall it's pure luck whether you'll have a shot at winning or not.
Such as that time that I started out in Madagascar and lost because no ship ever left their harbour.

its funny the game did better than Covid for keeping atleast one country perfectly healthy, just shows to you how humanity failed this year, hopefully we can beat the virus like this game did.

Greenland's ship port is open, but I still have a stubborn ship just circling the ocean begging for someone ELSE to let them in. Is Greenland so bad? This reminds me of the Coronovirus incident in the US where Trump wouldn't let a cruise ship land because people were infected. Everyone is just about dead. If I don't beat the game because of this one ship... so help me.

*plays in relaxed mode* "ok this should be pretty easy" *evolves no symptoms* "ok my visibility is zero so i will never be spotted" *they spot me anyway* "ok but i have no symptoms so they shouldn't waste their time and resources to try to cure a harmless disease" *Madagascar shuts down ports and all other nations of the world simultaneously decide that the disease is a threat to humanity and closes all borders* "well that escalated quickly"

first off, Madagascar is downright impossible to infect. Second of all, When a country is closed it can never be infected, meaning when 1 country closes you immediately lose.
