And honestly, it's not like (for example) MEGA Brands has a *supersecret* fund dedicated to discovering the Lego Group's *supersecret* plastic-block-making secrets. Or Procter & Gamble having a fund dedicated to stealing techniques for the art of diaper making...
Well, corporate espionage does occur. Just not via intelligence agencies, generally speaking. Certainly not via actual laws that are passed to accomplish such ends.

Umm, countries don't *have* manufacturing secrets... Companies do. Even if a company somehow suddenly started using another company's manufacturing procedures for the same product (for some stupid reason), there would be lawsuits everywhere.
Countries with state-run corporations do. As far as I know, the sort of thing 12q is describing did occur in Soviet Russia. Since the government ran the corporations and the KGB, they'd gather foreign intelligence and use it for corporate ends. But that's kind of a specific situation that's not really applicable to America.

Well it may not be state run but some politicians may release other countries manufacturing secrets to their corporation buddies that fund them.
Are you doing something to override the input limit on the message box? If you're not, give it another try. It could have had something to do with special character encoding, which I just altered the code to handle better.

Positives would be high gpd since we are spying on their factories and what they are manufacturing so we can steal their research. I would say better health since less terrorist attacks but some studies say that the NSA has prevented nothing like that.
The former would only really make sense if we had a state-controlled economy. In general this doesn't seem like a binary that many people would get behind and I'm not sure who it would be affiliated with.

An app wouldn't do much and I think Q said a mobile app would be very hard to do or impossible with how kongregate works. I have almost always for the past months been playing on my phone.

I wonder if playing a congressional "simulator" (even if it's satirical) where we can kill the president and fellow congressmen has gotten us all on some government watchlist.
I had hoped there wouldn't be any problems related to that since you play as a congressperson yourself... but who knows. I mean, technically we're all being watched by the NSA, so I'm not sure it even matters?

Personally I think that you should make your mobile app game first since it's being in the app stores should give it and the rest of your games a lot of exposure.
I do need to coordinate with a friend of mine on that one. It'll have graphics, so I can't just do it all myself. Trust me; you don't want me doing the graphics.

@Puynsi: No that is a really really bad idea, I did that when promoting Mutilate a Doll back when it was first released and it turned into a shitstorm of down voting and malicious as hell comments.

I seem to recall that there was an ongoing discussion about assassination price. It was balanced just right at the beggining of the Clout and then people learned that they can rise their salaries to the sky wich effected in everyone assassinating everyone. It was then that Q added police protection, doubled assassination price and added protective equipment (in that order). Now that people are more reasonable with their salaries and CongSec is almost always in place people start asking to lower assassination price (quite reasonably as it is now harder than ever to succesfully kill someone). I recall that there was a notion that prices of skullduggery should auto-balance according to salary in congress but it was deemed impossible to implement due to some technical nuances and the very idea being prone to manipulation (rising salary for getting budget and lowering it for act itself) among other reasons.
The auto-adjusting price could be implemented, but would of course be prone to abuse as you mentioned. Realistically I think I like the price being high as they shouldn't really be common occurrences, but on the other hand I think they have too minimal a chance of success at this point due to how protective equipment works. Also, since I added the no stress gain chance for protective equipment, I think it might be too good in general. I'll look at balancing the protective effects of it to make heavily stacking it less useful against assassinations.

People are going to roll their eyes at my and say "of course the Green member wants it" but assassinations are twice as expensive as they used to be and now there's protective clothing. Cut the cost or beef the % of killing someone because assassinations are under-powered.
I agree that assassinations seem kind of ineffective these days. I think I just need to reduce the effectiveness of heavily stacking protective equipment by using a nonlinear function for the block chance.
I would guess there's some unnoticeable difference in the character encoding, since duplicate entries are forbidden by the code. But I'll change it anyhow, since I don't want duplicate entries even if they're technically different in the encoding. edit: appears it was just DB tampering. stalkers made a completely duplicate entry manually, including the timestamp.

Until this point I really dont know if laught or worry about the fact of the ability "Rational Debate" being the first and cheapest tactic. lol
That's kind of a massive change to just make on a whim. The Green Party has some things in common with both teams. The playerbase has been like this before, so I'm sure everything will be fine. Not like all the newbies will necessarily stick around for any length of time. It's a bit premature to be doing something drastic about it.

I'm just gonna add that Josh is definitely the first name I'd list if you asked me who would suggest hooker murder as an option.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Well not the act itself it's the fact that Congressmen are doing it... Idk maybe I'm the only one who thinks it humorous... It's just the idea of congressmen doing drugs and auto-erotic asphyxiation and killing hookers is funny to me... Idk... Now you've me feel like a psycho...
Not really. Considering that's not exactly a common occurrence, it would make things likely a lot less realistic since people would do it a lot if it was as enticing of an option as you want it to be.

You should make murdering a prostitute a cheap but ultra effective way of relieving stress but puts you in jail if you're caught by an investigation.

I call bullshit on that(lol, I am arguing with the person that made the game). There is no way it can be that bad. Nothing a couple high multipled bills couldn't solve. In fact if people really wanted to we could get rid of all our debt with no negative repercussions in a week.
Even if I were to trigger one at random: most aren't that catastrophic. Though let's just say that getting a high impact roll on a hurricane or an epidemic would be a Very Bad Thing.

Can you go ahead and trigger a natural disaster for just the first time so we can get a taste of what it's gonna be instead of possibly having to wait weeks and weeks to see the new feature?

I think he was talking about a confirmation on wanting to buy the item? What I think he meant was when you wanted to buy something it would say "are you sure u want to buy (blank)?" I think that would be unneeded and usless.

Is that thing where you get a bonus on your play power depending on how much clout your cronies have still in effect or was that ever a thing? I think I remember that being a thing... Also how much is the increase if it is a thing.

National crisis? A daily chance? Sounds like it'll demand political unity to deal with these. Sounds like we're all doomed.
It's hard to say if hotkeys would be possible. Kind of depends on what Kongregate is doing with the wrapper code. I'm also not sure what you would want hotkeys or shortcuts for exactly? If you could elaborate a bit I might consider adding something along these lines.
I'm not sure if you're trying to say the numbers aren't in millions for the in-game debt, but they are indeed listed in millions of US dollars. It's just a visual display issue.
