I was thinking, "Well, this game might be alright even if I just play with silver." Then I started upgrading my counting house to make more silver, and even the silver production upgrades start costing gold.
I will gladly pay for premium content in a good game, but this model: ridiculous.

I yes i remember the time last week that i sped up reality by buying fictional money with real dollars so my Broadsword would be ready in seconds.

What wwwarrick said, very bad design, game only lets you play once every 20 minutes and for about 1 minute. And unlike most other games it doesn't let you wait for a day to play for an hour.

Does anyone know if the building upgrades that cost gold coins are unlocked by the first purchase or need gold coins per upgrade?

My Screen Resolution is 1280 x 1024 and the game is slightly bigger than that resolution. You really need to reduce it.
Is there any benefit to having a game bigger than that?

Good game, but, unless I am playing it wrong, it can swallow quite a bit of your time and attention. The problem (or maybe the attraction?) is that certain tasks are real time limited requiring you to go back regularly to complete, as they require constant input - well constant clicking of a certain button. It would be nice if this could be automated in some way, perhaps a foreman type character for production, or a default action for multi-click tasks.

Not sure if this is just me but using safari on a mac and can't play this game, it just brings me to the picture of the chair and then their is nothing for me to do, or am I just being stupid and missing something?

Well... I think the game is a new way to wait a new episodes & books of GoT. The game is good. Time is gold.
If you wait... yo get profits. If you can´t wait, you can pay like a Lanister for benefits.
I'm gonna play everyday. I like the game. But I have only one request: I hope the game does not retire until I am number 1 :D

@horrorstar100 Gold Coins are given as part of the daily reward system. It's the last one as you might imagine. :/ The amount per week (if you login every day) seems to vary but is around 4 or so.

Once again the "pay $$ to speed up the game" rears it's ugly head. This kills games for me, and is a little more out of wack in this game than others I have played.
